Re: Newbie here

Most body parts are interchangeable. The electronics however are not between that 09, and 04. The seats, you'll have to swap the skins. The heater connections are the same, but the airbag is different, so it will throw an SRS code just direct swapping the seats. But rear bumper, will swap, easy enou...

Re: Crankshaft Position Sensor Trouble

Just an FYI, if you're cranking the car, and it doesn't start first try, it will throw a Crankshaft Position sensor code. That doesn't mean it's bad. 2002, still had the old fuel pump relay. Check under the dash, and replace it, should say "103" on the top. Napa has them readily available. If that d...

Re: Accelerator delay '06 XC70

Check the intake hoses for leaks. Is the PEM located under the car, or in the rear? Some '06s still had it by the fuel filter, where if you haven't yet, I'd replace it. Do a little common maintenance, and just go through it. How old is the Air filter? Go through the silly stupid things would be my s...

I just used 3M Super 88, as it's rated for high temps as high as the engine bay is gonna get. Just wrap the wires so there's no copper showing :P

Re: 2004 S60 instrument cluster issue

I have a 2003 V70, that based on the chassis number, was the last of the cars that utilized the ignition switch. It also doesn't have a PEM, which by P80 terms, that was the fuel pump relay. The DIM needs to be sent out to be refloated, it's not just a simple fix. Xemodex seem to be the go to for t...

Re: P0305 Fuel Regulator/Pump?

Depending on the chassis number, 2002 didn't have a PEM, but still a fuel pump relay located on the stack for the CEM under the dash drivers side. I know this, because I have a 2003, that is supposed to have a PEM, but is 50,000 units from when the PEM model number changed. I would plan on replacing...

Re: 2004 XC70 occasional shudder under part throttle

I would've scanned with VIDA.... Common the DEM Pressure sensor goes, giving false readings. Looks like you have most of it done though. Don't forget to pick up a Haldex filter to replace the old one above the DEM pump. Rear Diff and Angle gear uses the same oil now according to Volvo. Been there, f...

Re: 2003 V70 t5 build

What exactly is wrong with the head? Only thing that ever goes on the head is the valve seals, or burnt valves. Which a burnt valve will show a cylinder with low compression if you did a compression test. Swapping heads is not going to gain you anything without a tune. Honestly, you really need the ...

Re: Oil pan gasket replacement

Tick is normal for a Volvo. Especially when the Oil is a quart low. Just the valves up top tapping every now and then. Fix your intake leaks, and clean the throttle body. Common a dirty throttle body shows a code on these cars. Your codes are showing something along those lines, as the throttle body...

Re: Modern look S60 LED Tail lights upgrade

For the resistor you have to determine the operating current- incandescent bulbs show a very low resistance to an ohmmeter. As current is applied and the filament heats up to produce light, the resistance in the filament rises until an equilibrium is reached between temperature and current. If they...

Re: High beam dilemma

The HIDs self leveling basically "raise" for the high beams. That being said, are your low beams on? You're saying you're not getting power to them, where in that housing, there are 2 separate bulbs. One is for the "DRL" which is the most center beams on the car. This does not get power when your li...

Will this work on headlights as I'm DYING to do this to my V70XC I have done my headlights in a similar fashion. It's an R, and I did not feel like cracking open the headlights. I mounted an LED strip below the headlights to get an interesting effect, and they also turn to sweeping amber with my bl...

Modern look S60 LED Tail lights upgrade

Copied and pasting my original write up, cause this question gets asked a lot. Some edits as well, but here's the LED Tail Lights I did. Been on the car year and a half now: To start off, I am not liable for any damage you do to your own lights trying to do this yourself. As promised, here's least w...

Re: Question about IPD control arms?

I went through Re-Volv for my control arms, and upgraded to Poly bushings, where it appears they used Powerflex bushings. Re-Volv reuses old control arms, and pushes in OEM Volvo bushings, which are by far probably the best quality out there. Also Re-Volv was the cheapest at $200 for a set with OEM ...

Ok now it cranks and then shuts off. 2 days ago I installed an alternator. It all worked fine . A few minutes later it lost power and then drove fine the rest of the way. As it turns out, was the silliest problem ever! 30 minutes and some duct tape rectified it! I had lost 4th gear, and reverse as well the night before. Next morning, took it apart, as I've been skipping second gear this entire time.... Turned out one of the sleeves had come undone.... To find this, s...

Volvo 850 manual shifter problem

So to start things off, new to this forum, but has a VERY VALUABLE RESOURCE! Thanks to all that contribute! Where I begin, is well, seems like something odd to me, but I have no ideas the name for this part, as transmissions are somewhat new to me, yet, this is the third manual transmission Volvo I'...
