When I check the car out again I take a better look. Bad ball joints can be spotted by trying the push the raised tire from the top and bottom to see if there is any wiggle room, correct?

I checked out a family members car the other day to change the rotors and brake pads. Once I took the wheel off I was harshly surprised by metal wire sticking out on the inside of both front tires due to uneven wear. I'm not sure where the problem lies here, either suspension or alignment?
