Re: 2001 V70 T-5 Geartronic w95K

Back in '05 when I was shopping, the alternatives for me were Audi avants and Passats. Back then the T5 was a bargain, but today they're about equal. Reason being the audi's and volkswagons have issues that cost much more to repair than Volvos. You would be paying a premium for an '03+ V70, but thin...

...and check that the coolant and transmission oil haven't contaminated each other. Just another reason these transmissions fail prematurely.

Re: Cruse control issue

It mounts to the brake booster, so my guess is that it has something to do with the traction control. It seems to be a mechanical plunger, however the sensor's casing cannot be opened.

Re: Cruise Control not working? Try this!

Nah, there is a separate light that's in the right-hand side of the cluster under the fuel gauge. It actually reads "SERVICE". The "ENGINE SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED" message can often yield OBD2 codes, usually for O2 or MAF problems. This message went away about 50mi after I replaced the brake pedal p...

Cruise Control not working? Try this!

I haven't had my cruise control for a while now. There is an "ENGINE SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED" message that looks scary, but really means that there is a code being thrown ***not a CEL code which you could translate with a scan-gauge!!!! However, after every time I try to trade my car in at countless...

Re: Cruse control issue

I'm sorry it took so long for someone to respond to your post. Have you sorted the issue yet? Regardless, in a few hours I will post "brake pedal position sensor" removal/replacement instructions of what I did to fix mine. Be prepared to spend some more money on your beloved volvo  ***update: V...

Re: Front end noise

I've got a few ideas, besides double checking the endlinks are tight: 1. I've heard of people adding grease inside the end link boots, as they sometimes don't come with enough. 2. You can inspect the swaybar bushings, they'll make the sound your describing if they're beat up. 3. Ball joints -I'm not...

Re: 2001 V70 T5 with scraping / clicking sound on corners

That'll be the traction control cutting throttle and applying brakes in order to stop you losing control. This is 100% normal. If you want to stop this happening, you can press and hold the STC button to turn the feature off. If these symptoms exist on dry & smooth pavement as well, then you may hav...

Re: Need Help

If you could get $2-3k? for selling it as a parts car or mechanic's special, you could put that additional $4k you would've spent on the repair towards another '03 with lower miles. Spend less, while ending up with a lower miles equivalent. sorry about the bad news on the engine!

Re: Inner CV boot replacement V70 2.4t

I agree with jda2000. Because of their age you're better off replacing them(still cheaper than paying the shop to do it). Can't comment on oem versus non-oem brands, but because they're so expensive I would just replace them when they fail.
