FS: 1994 850 Turbo - the Swedish Interceptor :)
Hey folks, It's time for me to retire my 1994 Volvo 850 Turbo. It was driven by my daughter until last year, but a couple of problems sidelined it - the dreaded flashing transmission arrow fault means the auto is on it's way out, and it has a slow brake fluid leak, probably from the ABS module. It's...

Re: 1998 Volvo S70 How to check water pump without pulling?
It sounds like you may have the head gasket going out on you. You mention the expansion tank boiling over in one of your previous posts. I would not be surprised if it was the case especially at the mileage you have given. That's a good call but check the whole thread: the coolant test is negative ...

Re: 1994 850 Turbo 180,000 miles
Either the crank or cam sensor will prevent the car from starting, but it can actually run with a bad cam sensor, or at least that's what the Motronic books say. If you haven't had any weird shut offs while driving then the cam sensor might be worth looking at. I replaced both the cam and crank sens...

Re: What socket set would you buy?
It was a 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" drive kit with deep sockets for the 1/4" and 3/8" drive. Both metric and SAE. I have a bunch of Craftsman tools, but to me the 12 point sockets make it really easy to round off a nut or bolt that is rusty, to the point that I basically gave up on t...

Re: 1994 850 Stacked rod bearings
The spec that I have makes it look like everything is the same between the B5252 and the B5254 with the exception of the head and the timing belt, but I've never seen one in person. One odd thing is my reference shows the pistons for the B5252 having a max weight tolerance of 5 grams vs 10 grams for...

Re: 97 850R wagon 98K Miles One Owner! I finally got an R!
But it does have the all important 'Keep Austin Weird.' sticker! I believe the T5-R and 850R's all have a 58 in the VIN. The standard T5 or Turbo will be a 57. Low pressure turbo will have something else. The ECU should be a 628 if it is a R. Either way, now that you have it, it's all about how good...

Re: The great tire experiment continues - Volvo 850 Turbo
Although that may be true, so far I am having more problems with crappy 205/50R16 tires than bent rims!shaker_chi wrote:From what I've read Volvo went to the 55's from the 50's due to bent rims. Not sure how accurate that information is though.

Oil Filter insides - I did it for science!
After seeing countless videos of people disassembling non-Volvo oil filters, and not finding any pictures of Volvo oil filters, I decided to cut open a pair. Why only two, and which two? One had to be the standard Mann W917, mostly because discussions about them usually follow this format: 'Why do y...
