I had the same problem, smell and losing a small amt of coolant. I checked the heater core, O-rings and there were no signs of leaking. I did find a crack in the hose at the coolant resevoir. I should have checked that first. Changed hose and the smell went away.

Ended up being the right front motor mount after all. I just had him change it out. Thanks again for your advice.

Thanks for the advice. I'm taking it back to the shop that installed the cat, today. When I called him yesterday, the first thing he said was he thought the motor mounts might be bad. However, I didn't have this problem before the new cat was installed. I'll post back later whn I find out something.

OK. I've checked the heater core for leaks on both sides, the piping coming into the core, and the coolant tank/hoses. No leaks anywhere. No fogged up windows. However, I still get the sweet smell of anti-freeze from the air vents, sometimes worse than others. I have to replace maybe an ounce or two ...

My wife gets anywhere from 22 to 28 mpg depending on how much highway driving she does.

I use a small bungee cord to pull the cable tight while I push on the hood to release it. Hook it to the cable handle in the car and anywhere under the seat.

My wife came home and said the AC blower was making a "roaring sound" and no air was coming out of the vents.
