Re: 2002 xc70 cooling fan stays on
I just started experiencing this same problem on my 02 XC70 and the "violet wire test" confirmed my fan control module was bad. Volvo did not have a recall for my VIN. Thank you to the posters for the valuable info!

Re: Time for Regular Service Message Reset Procedures
I have a 2007 Volvo S60R and my "Time for Regular Service Message" light is on. I have tried the following method: 1. Turn key to Pos I and hold the trip odometer button 2. Turn key to Pos II and waited for the "audible beep" 3. Turn the key to the "off position" When ...

Re: what brand oil? Other Maintenance recommendations?
kiss4afrog said it right. I belong to a few forums for different cars an your question about oil is a hot topic in all of them.

Re: Metallic Scraping Noise at 2500 RPM Only After Startup
I found the answer to my question: http://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-s60-10/unusual-loud-abs-self-check-noise-39220/ "...I guess most Volvo owners have noticed the noise that comes from the ABS when the car first reaches 12 mph or 20 km/h after starting the engine, that is the ABS self check a...

Re: Metallic Scraping Noise at 2500 RPM Only After Startup
Sounds like the ABS check. OK... getting there! Thank youCountryBum-kin. Using "ABS check" as a search term I found this thread: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=44044&p=214057. So, now that we seem to have established that it is the ABS check... what exactly i...

Re: Metallic Scraping Noise at 2500 RPM Only After Startup
Good feedback Polarice70. I have been experimenting and it would seem that RPMs are not the critical factor and that it may be distance that triggers the noise. 2500 RPM just happens to be the point I typically hear it when accelerating out of my driveway. If I creep along and keep the RPMs low I ca...

Metallic Scraping Noise at 2500 RPM Only After Startup
Consistently after I start the car and drive away, at the first instance of 2500 RPMs I hear a "thin" metallic scrape. It only lasts a second and then is not heard again until the car has been parked, restarted and accelerates to the 2500 RPM mark.

Re: freak'n heater core job...how do i?
...unless the swedes built the car around the core...:  I did a heater core in a Nissan once. Worst project I ever did. I swore the core was the first part bolted to the pan on the assembly line. Whole dash had to come out to get to the damn thing. After I got it all back together, I only had ...

Re: Dirty PCV or something else?
...with engine running remove oil cap and stretch a rubber glove over the filler hole. At idle a properly ventilated engine makes vacuum pressure and will suck the glove in, demonstrating that it has vacuum at idle. If the pcv is plugged it will inflate the glove somewhat like a balloon. Thank you ...
