Re: The Strangest Transmission Problem I've Ever Encountered
I must admit, I am quite embarrassed by what the cause of the problem was - so much so that I thought about not posting a follow up to this thread. However, I want this information to be known so that this problem doesn't cause anyone else the grief it caused me. I started checking grounds and the w...

The Strangest Transmission Problem I've Ever Encountered
Short version of the story: 2005 XC90 occasionally shifts so poorly it won't move. The shift lock solenoid in the gear selector pulses rapidly when in park and the key in POSII or engine running. Sometimes the car will shift perfectly fine for up to 4 miles. Sometimes I can't even get the car back ...

Which tool are you referring to? The only one I'm aware of costs $280precopster wrote: ↑19 May 2017, 16:42 Get the kit that helps you remove the end cap and therefore allows you to remove the pintle from the solenoid and clean it fully.
Costs about 65 dollars

Re: '02 XC70 No Reverse/Neutral = Drive Worth a Trying a Valvbody?
I replaced the transmission in this car over the weekend with a 55-51SN from a 2003 purportedly with 58k. I reset adaptations and the fluid change counter. The new trans shifts phenomenally well when cold, but when the trans oil temp goes above 85C 2->3 & 3->4 shifts experience a huge delay. I h...

'02 XC70 No Reverse/Neutral = Drive Worth a Trying a Valvbody?
I've been helping a friend with transmission problems on his '02 XC70. His problems seemed to mostly be a hard 2-3 shift and rough garage shifts. First thing we did was a full fluid flush, then a B4 servo cap replacement (original was actually bad) then SLS, SLU, SLT Sonnax solenoid replacement. The...

No communication with DIM or DEM, BCM and REM intermittent
2003 XC70 Been trying to troubleshoot a problem on a friend's car. He bought it without a functional DIM, but otherwise the car seemed to function fine. Occasionally the DIM would kick back into life while driving. I re-flowed all the solder connections on the DIM and it started working for a few we...

Re: 2000 V70R - Intermittent Major Electrical Fault
I've been going over my VIDA readout and thing I may have found something worth investigating. There are codes associated with CAN bus signal being too low for every module. It looks like the only module that has triggered these codes is the CDM with CDM-DF14 and CDM-DF15. I am also getting CDM-E000...

Re: 2000 V70R - Intermittent Major Electrical Fault
After talking with a Volvo tech, it does seem to be heat soak related. The problem occurs with much greater frequency after the car has been driven for a long period or frequently restarted. Abscate, is this the thread you were talking about? https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=...

Re: 2000 V70R - Intermittent Major Electrical Fault
The ETM has been replaced 3 times, used OEM and 2 Xemodex units.
The brake position sensor and brake switch didn't fix the problem.
I'm going to check the main wiring loom.
