update: I drove the car like an 80 year old lady today for 15 miles. Not bad except for a few hard shifts and a general lack of power. I didnt go over 40, I kept at it regular street speeds. Neutral was sometimes drive but usually popped out. I went through the manual gears 1-5 and they worked fine....

i'd rather not spend the money on another trans that can have problems too. I dont think the salt water got to it,,it was mainly on one side of the car the way it was parked....I guess.
