Update, I pulled the trigger. I paid $700. That is less than what he paid plus the parts he already bought. I was going to offer more actually, because I am a nice guy.
I think I will be putting up a page dedicated to "Adelie" and documenting my work.

I have an opportunity to buy a 86 244
So a coworker bought a 244 from a relative after the vehicle broke down on a trip. Quote: "There was a loud pop, and the vehicle would no longer start after coasting to a stop." The engine cranks. He has replaced spark plugs, wires, rotor cap and all the fuses. He has not replaced the igni...

Re: 1998 S70 Cranks but no start.
Got my cam shaft position sensor today and replaced it. Car started right up. Finally fixed, I hope. A little unclear though what the part actually does. Does this somehow effect timing of spark? Fuel delivery? Why would this effect the car starting?

Re: 1998 S70 Cranks but no start.
UPDATE: She ran fine for weeks, but then it got cold again. I could not get the P0340 code to come back. Until yesterday, when the temperature dropped. She cranks just fine but does not fire. Grabbed the code reader and P0340 is back. I am now looking to spend 80-90 on a CamShaft sensor. What are th...

Re: 1998 S70 Cranks but no start.
Got my new code reader today. I was only showing 4 codes, two of which have to do with the Air Pump, which I knew about. The other was the Cam Sensor and P1308 Cleared the codes, and p1308 immediately came back. I figure the Cam Sensor could be from when I disconnected it temporarily to try and star...

While trying to get my elm327 to connect, she started today. Now I am nervous. Issue resolved. But, I am going to get a better code reader.

Re: 1998 S70 Cranks but no start.
Guess I will try to see if I can get a code off of it. I have a blue tooth elm327 whatever. But I actually no longer have a android phone.

Re: 1998 S70 Cranks but no start.
When I get a ride back to my car, I am going to test for spark at the plugs. And I will also try to see if I can get the fuel pump to run constant, by pulling the fuel line and shorting 15 and 87 or whatever on the the relay. Q: If I get no spark, but the coil is good? What other then the coil can c...

1998 S70 Cranks but no start.
I know you all have seen this a million times. I tried several searches and several different things. Here is the scenario. Car sat all weekend. Started right up, went to work Monday at 1pm, no issue. Went on break, and the car would crank, but would not start. Last year, the Coolant Temp Sensor wen...
