Re: Diary of a 17 y/o with an 850

Those S/V70 T5 Perfo wheels are so sweet. I did just the opposite of you. On my 2000 V70, I put 850 turbo Columba wheels with the rare mirrored right side pair. Good work keeping your car rolling.

Re: Brake system questions Topic is solved

Here's a thread where I document the 2nd or 3rd attempt at fixing them: Thanks for replying here. Your caliper thread taught me a lot when I started this project. I hadn't seen the rear hose thread, so thanks for linking it and posting such good pictures. What ultimately fixed your rear calipers? D...

Re: This is a Thanks to FCP Euro

Is there a special URL we can use to start a shopping session at FCP Euro which will give you credit for the purchase? I'm about to make a large purchase there and would like to give you credit.

I have been using your special Amazon link for all of my Amazon purchases for years.

Re: Brake system questions Topic is solved

How are you measuring brake pressure? I will use the SSBC A1704 Brake Pressure Gauge Kit . I haven't used it yet, but apparently it works great. Check YouTube for usage videos, including tips to minimize air in the gauge. Also note that, according to reviews, the plastic face of the dial gets corro...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

I finally found what's been causing my front brake to stick shut . The car has been sitting for a year because I haven't had time to work on this problem. With this tackled, I can go figure out why the rear calipers are stuck open, then finish overhauling the entire braking system. Then I'll finally...

Re: Starter trouble (extra wire?)

Here are some pictures of my 2000 V70 starter from when I last worked on it. You'll see two large red wires are on the outer post. I'm pretty sure that the inner post has no wire attached other than the little 2" strap to the body of the starter. I know that there is no grounding wire from the car b...

Brake system questions Topic is solved

While overhauling my 2000 V70 braking system, I have the following questions: Is it necessary to smooth out the front caliper brackets so that the brake pads slide smoothly on them? If so, what's the best way? When measuring brake fluid pressure with a gauge at the caliper hoses, what pressures shou...

Re: How to prevent brake seize after car sits unused Topic is solved

I finally found the solution to my problem: You prevent brake calipers from seizing by checking their dust boots (and other moving parts). After sitting unused for a year, I finally started the brake overhaul on my V70. The front right caliper was stuck slightly closed. I carefully examined the cali...

Re: Rebuilt Calipers - Pins, What's the issue? 30648017

OEM pins might be Torx as well, so don't immediately toss them. In April 2014, I had a Volvo dealership install front right caliper part 8111102. This is a rebuilt caliper. I assume it came with new pins which they used. While working on it last night, I noticed that the hex socket corners were roun...

Re: Rebuilt Calipers - Pins, What's the issue? 30648017

Maybe this is why all of my rebuilt calipers keep failing, but my one original caliper does not. I'm about to tear all the calipers apart and inspect them once and for all. Thanks for this tip.
