Re: Only Drained 90oz Of Coolant

Thank you everyone for your help! Here's really the deal. I had drained some coolant to replace the Thermostat and the Coolant Temperature Sensor. After which, I refilled the tank, but the coolant level did not go down, so I suspected there are air pockets, then, I raised the car to drain more cool...

Was the high/low reading on the expansion tank within range? Nope. The reading was high, because I filled the tank after replacing the thermostat and coolant temperature sensor. Check Engine Light With Not Working Temperature Gauge

Hello folks, hope you all are managing the mask era good enough!

Out of the blue, my check engine light came on, with no message in the message window. Looking around on the gauges, I realized the temperature gauge is not working; the pin is way down to the left. What might this be?

Thanks.

Alaska and cold -40F is so cold, that the Creator says the units don't matter... :D I live in Anchorage and not the north. The coldest I have experiences in twenty-eight was about -20F. The past years have been as low as -12F (+/-). Fairbanks is where the about -50F is or more up north at -65F (+/-).

While you have the intake tube off, look it over to see if any wear spots are developing. Can save a no start condition later when you have a hole in the tube. To install, start the intercooler end, but do not tighten. This will get the tube up in proper position to align with the throttle body. Th...

I already got a set for the Cross Country which is longer and should have higher torque spec. I originally got a set of the V70 but realized I made a mistake and reordered one for the XC70 (V70XC). These ones are larger in size. I got Sachs brand, not much choice for me.

Re: Open Trunk Door Without Battery

When I removed the battery, I just move the cables out of the way. Though I 'always' try to place the removed cables in a manner not to touch any metal materials for then re-installing the battery. Because I am not 100% sure, the safest thing I should do would be to unlock the front driver's door, c...

The battery is completely out which is why I got into that predicament in the first place. The car will be sitting for a while. Got it as a fix-a-upper.

The 2001 XC70s I have don't have that option. Though, it looks like there are marks on both XC70s as a place it would been in that model.

Open Trunk Door Without Battery

Locked the car with remote witht the trunk open. Removed the battery, shut the trunk lid. You know what's next. You can't open the trunk. I can unlock the front door, sneak into the trunk, pry open the floor and insert the battery to be able to unlock the trunk door with the remote. I have a 'super'...

Need To Eliminate Some Old Car Odor

Just got a used car which has some odor I would like to eliminate as much as I can. The previous owner must have smoked. Just want to get the car to a 'normal' old car smell. Since I won't get to the car in the next three months, I am thinking of getting some air refresher blocks and throw them in t...

Found one for $400 and another $400 for shipping. Oh, Alaska!

One of the sellers said I should be looking for Volvo V70 or XC70 for years 2001 through 2007
and any S60. He mentioned the doors are the same for the front and I should watch out for
the stick-on side moulding strip style.

Re: Door Body Work

I went to a junkyard, bought a whole new door, and had it on the car in a matter of minutes. You need a helper to get one of these doors on, they are heavy, and the alignment is kinda picky. No matter what you can lift, you need someone to eyeball the slide-in pins. Driver door module did NOT compl...

DoorPanel.JPG DoorFrame.JPG Got hit two weeks ago. Just wondering if it's worth the time fixing this door (DIY) with some time and patience. It would sense for the windshield hose to have a check valve, preventing run back, but the headlight hose to have a pressure valve - requiring positive pressure on the valve to open, to prevent gravity draining of the headlight washer. Are the part numbers on the two valves identical or could they ...

Is there a check valve on the windshield line ? If nit, I would guess they got switched by PO Otherwise, its quirky swede engineering, or a nice way to give you a spare check valve. Nope! Would any one by chance know the temperature of the 2001 Volvo XC70 thermostat was manufactured to? Two Volvo dealers I called said they do not know.

If it is lower in temp than an after-market, I would get an after-market with a higher temp for the Alaskan cold region.

I am refering to the thin red tubing that comes with spray cans.

I have a Hakkapellitta tire # 215/65/R16 98T M+S. What do the "98T" and "M+S" stand for?
Also, the tire marking calls for a 47psi tire pressure. That much for a 'family wagon'?
