Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

There's a lot of Volvo owners in the UK using them and they seem happy with how they perform. I was originally going for Koni struts and Eibach springs but replacing every single parts (spring seats, strut bearings, bumpstops...) made it more expensive than BC coilovers, even with Koni orange strut...

Just placed my order for BC coilovers, can't wait to replace the whole suspension (Monroe strut with 200k miles stock spring and crappy spring seats on the front, short ebay spring + Meyle strut on the rear :? )

Re: Turbo + supercharger + EV = too much?

I do agree that the T8s will probably be less durable in the very long term than our well-cared-for 850s, just as they themselves are less durable than were the 240s. But most 850s have been scrapped by now, due to busted timing belts, popped heater cores, neglected PCVs, etc. The median 850 probabl...

Re: Rear swaybar 850 turbo.

Can't comment on the 850 chassis in particular, but generally, adding more anti-roll to one end of a car (independently of the other end) will tend to reduce grip, transferring load to the other end. Adding rear stiffness while leaving the front alone will increase the car's tendency to oversteer. T...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky)

Hope we buy the awful Pilot Sport series which are crap... ! I have to step in here and defend the Pilots. I had Pilot Super Sports on my old Fiesta and they were great tires...for sporting applications. Lots of grip, good wet performance, decent treadwear for soft tires, quiet enough on the highwa...

Re: Oil - What weight do you use? (Please forgive me for asking...)

I'm not sure the controversy over what constitutes a "full synthetic" motor oil matters. Seems like a semantic distinction. The "group 3" synthetics are synthesized from crude oil; that the base from which they're made happens to be what comprises conventional oil seems pretty irrelevant to me. Ever...

Re: engine not sitting right in engine bay

The steering rack you used is the only variable. A cursory glance at a couple pics show that they *might* be able to mix them up, but they are not listed as interchangeable. The 93-00 P80 cars all use the same rack. The 01-04 cars use a different one. Yeah, this is what I'm worried about. I ordered...

Re: engine not sitting right in engine bay

Still stumped. Anyone have any experience with this? I'm probably like $200 into replacing engine mounts and the engine is still crooked. I've now replaced every mount except the one under the transmission and it still isn't sitting right. I did replace the steering rack, which the rear mount bolts ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky)

What size hoses do you need for the 302mm upgrade? Looking to do it on my 850 soon - especially since my insurer doesn't classify it as a modification. People get away with the standard hoses. The 302mm hoses are a smidge longer to account for the caliper now being a little farther away from the br...
