Re: Need help replacing the Fuel level sensor (Driver side)

Is it possible the sender assy is secured to the pump unit itself ? That's how it was on my model year (and a bit tricky to remove, had to separate them inside the tank)

Re: How reliable is the Volvo V70? (2004-2007)

There is something fishy with US motor oils. Not hard to believe. Industry standards are not necessarily the same everywhere. Petrol lobbying in the US is very strong, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear they impose some lower standards to save money, or just because some old industry culture. I hea...

Re: How reliable is the Volvo V70? (2004-2007)

However, the real risk is that the increased pressure from the PCV system being blocked results in engine seals being blown out and engine oil leaks occurring. Any seal repair adds to the cost, but if the engine was run on low oil, severe engine damage may have occurred with overheating and wear. T...

Re: How reliable is the Volvo V70? (2004-2007)

Is it like a BMW where it needs religious maintenance and it'll still break down occasionally? Or more like buying an old Toyota Camry that won't die no matter what you do to it? The 'Toyota' quality is actually a myth born about 30 years ago in the 90's when a Corolla would run with very little re...

Re: Speaker replacement - Front Left [Volvo XC70 2006 134k miles]

Which audio unit is there ? I've heard the speakers on the HU-850 one can indeed fail. There is plenty of used genuine speakers on Ebay, you'll need to find out which one you have - but basically you should be able to install any of the models available. Now, drilling out the old speaker is another ...

Re: 2002 S60 car stalling at stops and during low speed turns.

Being it was an almost 17 years old battery that makes sense. That said, I'm not sure the tint shop will be quick to refund it because draining a healthy battery does not cause it to fail. In your situation, it was a very old one - time wise, because the miles are rather low - so that might as well ...

Re: 2002 S60 car stalling at stops and during low speed turns.

Perfectly agree with the above comment. Really quite a few owners reported weird things - including no start, immobilizer problems and so on - after having left the car parked long term and getting a drained battery. Really wish we'd learn one day the cause for these precise behavior, maybe someone ...

Re: sunroof and alarm siren

As mentioned, unplugging the alarm siren should have everything else work properly + a dash message and triangle light for 10-15 sec after firing up. Here's a trick when replacing the alarm - a little unconventional but can save some time www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wt1kp5HPgWc

Re: Need help replacing the Fuel level sensor (Driver side)

I don't know about the specific configuration on your car but you can see here after about 5:00 there are two covers under the rear seats - one is hidden under the upper section of the seat and difficult to access (need to remove the upper seat). The picture in your first post seems to be just a hol...

Re: Need help replacing the Fuel level sensor (Driver side)

My level sensor was also very random so I pulled it and cleaned the potentiometer contacts and - perhaps even better - also compressed a little bit the "U" portion of the float metal rod, because when it was sitting on top of the potentiometer it had a little bit of side-play, which may be the reaso...
