Re: heater fan hot at all times

That is not normal but it is usually a symptom of a shorted power stage (blower resistor). The way to turn it off is to pull the fuse after the car is shut off while the replacement part is coming in. It is very easy to fix but you need to remove the glove box to get to it. (I assume it is a mirror ...

Re: Passenger Power Seat not working

I think the site is volvowiringdiagrams.com but the scans are poorly paginated and they are incomplete. The seats should be the same 98-00 so grab all three years - sedan and wagon. I have better luck using the service manual but it so for the 850: www.matthewsvolvosite.com/downloads/Volvo_850.zip I...

Re: Passenger Power Seat not working

Most of my problems have been with the switch and I can get it to work again with contact cleaner.

Re: '94 850 Timbing Belt Job- Current Timing appears to be off

When I did the belt change on a couple of mine (both of the '96s) they were a tooth off when I started. My guess is that about 30% of them on the road are driving around that way. They run better when the timing is correct but they don't run horrible off a tooth like you would think they would. If y...

Re: 1994 850T

If this is an automatic (likely) try rowing the shifter back and forth, quickly, a dozen times or so. Particularly after the car has been parked for a while the PNP switch can get wonky and it will interrupt the start circuit. Exercising the shifter can loosen up the grease on the contacts. You can ...

Re: Volvo 855T engine swap using a 2.4T V70R Engine

I cannot make a 100% guarantee that the M56 variants will bolt up since I have never done the procedure myself but they should go together just fine. Obviously the flex plate needs to be removed and replaced with a manual transmission flywheel. People swap RN engines into older cars all the time and...

Re: Volvo 855T engine swap using a 2.4T V70R Engine

You can't change the cams and the cam cover to remove the CVVT. The seal is a different size on the CVVT cam. What you can do is just leave it as is and the CVVT will lock itself in place since the CVVT solenoid won't be hooked up to anything.

Re: P0016 code

When you replaced the timing belt did you set the CVVT preload? That code is usually due to the CVVT preload not being properly set, particularly if it post immediately when you start the engine.

Re: Okay to drive short term with broken transverse arm mount?

Welding them is a bad idea. The trailing arms are aluminum and the bushings are where the alignment is adjusted.

My guess is about 25% of them on the road have broken or badly deteriorated bushings. As long as you don't get crazy you should be fine for a short period of time.

Re: 1998 V70XC Rear Propshaft "Hanger Bearing" Replacement?

The only way I know to do it is to send it off to a place like Colorado Drive shaft. The way it is made I think the only way to do it is to cut the shaft and weld it back together. I had the same thing happen about a month ago and I just removed it and it will stay that way. It makes a heck of a rac...
