Re: Wood Or No Wood
The wood surround in my T5 is darker than the one shown. Maybe it's walnut ?? Also, I've seen a Volvo 850 that had wood veneer inserts in each of the door panels, and it looked very classy. I tried to obtain a set for my wagon but have not been successful to date. Does anyone on this forum know if V...

Re: VVIS vacuum resevior location?
The 'reservoir' you talk about is actually the engine i.e. when it is running the induction process within the engines 4 stroke cycle creates a vacuum if it is in good condition. The only vacuum 'reservoir' is at the rear of the maser brake cylinder and all it does is provide some boost to lessen th...

Re: 98 V70 stalled, now no start
Alright... I've kept the MAF sensor unhooked for a couple days now. Today, I tried holding the key in the start position for a pretty long time. The car acted as though it was going to start twice, but now... after all the failed startup attempts, the battery is pretty much dead. I suppose I'll eit...

I wholeheartedly agree.zhenya wrote:ATE Super Blue is DOT 4.claymore850 wrote:The 850 uses ATE DOT4 (amber colour) , the ATE Blues looks better, but is DOT3....
Here in Australia, DOT 4 is a greeny blue colour while the last tin of DOT 3 brake fluid I bought a few years back had a reddish tinge to it.

Re: draining the brake fluid (850)

I know that I have to use Dot4 fluid but I havent performed this job in my car before.. can I do it myself or is it better to take it to a shop? I dont have any idea how to drain ...

Re: 96 854 heatercore related issue.
The O-rings at the junctions are a common problem - my heater core too is fine, but the darn O-rings are leaking. Check the ends of the steel heater pipes for pitting caused by corrosion as, over time corrosion can/will remove some of the smooth external surface metal of the steel heater pipes and,...

Front suspension mounts/seats
I intend changing the front suspension mounts and seats on my '95 850 T5 wagon soon. I've heard it is better to upgrade the originals with ones designed to fit XC70/XC90 models as they are more robust and last longer. Has any forum member actually done this upgrade to their 850, have any knowledge r...

Re: Battery drain...
Iassume the figures you list are milliamps. If this assumption is correct then this would mean power being consumed would be in the vicinity of 2 watts. This leads me to think it might be the glove box light remaining illuminated when the glove box is shut - and this can be established quite easily....

Re: Mechanic Won't Take Responsibility - Ideas?
Hi, Some years ago a mechanic talked me into having all the hoses in the engine bay replaced while the engine was out having the rear main crankshaft seal replaced. This seemed quite logical to me at the time and so I gave permission for them to go-ahead and replace the hoses (however, I nearly fain...

Re: Fuel injector refurbish
You could also send them out to have them refurbish. There are a lot of great companies that do just this and then you know it is being done correctly. Yes I realise this is the case but I would like to obtain the necessary parts so I can have a go at doing this myself - not for saving money, but j...
