2005 XC70 totally dead--buzzing near ECM
I have a 2005 XC70 with 120,000 miles. It has a bad steering rack and cam seal oil leak. I was going to try to sell it for a couple thousand. It hadn't been driven in a few weeks. Last week, I went to start it and it had enough juice to light up the dashboard but not to turn over the engine. I let i...

Re: Front LCA Rear bush by Bilstein/Febi
Why are these such a failure point compared to other cars? Is it the rubber quality, the design of the bushing, the overall geometry of the system, or quality control? I've gone through three sets of LCAs on my 05 XC70 with 110K miles. I've had a bunch of other cars and never had to replace this par...

Re: pins for fuel door bracket oops!
Can you pull the used pins out of the old bracket? I did that for one of the four when I replaced mine because I was missing one.

Re: Haldex 3 fluid/filter change on '05 XC70--Is it worth the trouble/cost?
How will I know if AWD fails? Will I get an error message or CEL? I rarely--if ever--drive in situations where AWD is necessary so I don't think I'd be able to tell by driving.

Haldex 3 fluid/filter change on '05 XC70--Is it worth the trouble/cost?
I've got an 05 XC70 with 109,000 miles. It's now our third car, which means I use it to haul around dirty dogs and bikes, and my wife takes it 3 miles RT 5x week to work to a tight parking lot where door dings are common. I'm trying to keep it going for several more years. I've recently replaced the...

Re: What is the small hose on the thermostat housing on '05 XC70?
I figured it out--somehow I missed this thread in my search:

It's part of the PCV system. I was able to buy generic hose at the parts store and cut to fit.

What is the small hose on the thermostat housing on '05 XC70?
I tore it while removing it during a thermostat replacement. I can't seem to locate if on any parts diagrams. I'm not sure if I need a molded hose or just get some hydraulic hose at the parts store. Given the holiday weekend, I'm hoping to be able to get something at a regular parts store today. Tha...
