Re: 240 Battery Drain Issues
My #8 fuse kept shorting and blowing in my 93 240. My problem was the wire behind the glove box leading to the light in the glove box. The duct tape that originally held the wire in place against the top of the glove box had worn out and the wire got caught up in the support mechanism that holds the...

Re: Both sides brake and reverse lights out
I just went through a situation with having no reverse lights, but I had swapped out the tail light assemblies for less expensive aftermarket ones. I actually did this a few months back with no issues and then got rear-ended (the other car ended up with a ripped up front passenger quarter panel and ...

Re: 1993 240 Oil Leak Question
Thanks for the info. I thought I was buying an OEM part. I'm not happy with them selling crap and passing it off as OEM. Their site (new-part.com) looks legit, but obviously they are not. I was reading through their return policy and it states on there regarding the parts that are faulty have to be ...

Re: 1993 240 Oil Leak Question
Following up on this issue with the oil leak - I brought it into a wonderful little one-man shop in the Denver area. The mechanic ran some tests and there was excessive crankcase pressure. Apparently the oil trap I put on (that was supposed to be an OEM part) was not good and has some sort of block ...

Re: 1993 240 Oil Leak Question
So the machining of the head isn't an automatic necessity? I don't even know where I would have that done. Regarding the temp gauge - an interesting story: I met a guy at a pick-n-pull who highly recommended switching the spark plugs back to the OEM Bosch WR7DC (I had NKG's in there and there were N...

Re: 1993 240 Oil Leak Question
I searched out symptoms for a blown head gasket and I don't see any of them in my car. Plus, I am watching a youtube series of videos from a guy named ethivierge (there are 26 videos in total) - this is an intense job where many things could go wrong. I would love the experience of tearing this apar...

Re: 1993 240 Oil Leak Question
So it would be better to not put the retainer plate on so if something blows, it would be the plug. But since I'll be servicing the flame trap, it is not going to be an issue anyway. There is no milky froth at the oil cap and exhaust is clear - no smoke at all, so I don't think there is any coolant ...

Re: 1993 240 Oil Leak Question
I forgot to mention that the cam plug was replaced about 6 months ago by the shop and the back of the valve cover where that is located is absolutely dry. That was the first thing I checked before I found the oil trap was leaking. I do want to pick up one of those retainer plates - that just makes g...

1993 240 Oil Leak Question
Is it possible for the rear main to leak a bit and have the oil get thrown (due to the spinning) up and through the area where the bell housing connects to the engine? This is the theory of the volvo specific shop I've gone to for issues beyond my ability. This just doesn't sound too feasible to me....

Re: 1993 240 Heater Hoses leaking
Thanks for all the help - I got the hoses replaced, it wasn't too bad - being in the right position is everything on that bottom hose. The bottom hose was pretty spongie and weak - When I first got the car, there were many oil leaks - could that oil have contaminated the rubber of this hose? The dow...
