Re: 96 Volvo 850 Turbo - Died on road and won't start
Just went and took the timing belt cover off, it was definitely snapped. Just had it towed home. Considering I'm no professional mechanic, this is a job for a legitimate mechanic correct? I don't feel like entirely screwing up my engine is a very good idea...

Re: 96 Volvo 850 Turbo - Died on road and won't start
I'll have to try the battery again tomorrow, I'm hoping I don't end up needing to tow it anywhere and it'll be a fix that I can do where it's at. As far as the codes, the last time I went to AutoZone it did pull up two codes that (I hate to say it) I didn't get taken care of because I was too broke ...

96 Volvo 850 Turbo - Died on road and won't start
Here's the story: I was driving down the road (my car is an automatic by the way), and suddenly the engine turns off. No sputtering, no chugging, no sounds like it were about to stall or stop, just stopped. All of the dash lights came on. So I roll off to the side of the road and go to start her up ...

Re: Hood replacement
I completely forgot that I posted this, thanks for all the replies! I still need to replace the hood, and I appreciate all the walkthroughs and whatnot. When I get a couple days off from work to go get a hood at the pick and pull I'll let you guys know how it goes. Hoping I don't mess anything up si...

Re: 1996 Volvo 850T - Stock stereo says HOT
Lo and behold, there was one blown fuse and it of course was the radio fuse. Works perfectly fine now

1996 Volvo 850T - Stock stereo says HOT
The stock stereo in my 850 only works for radio and tape, but when I press CD the screen says HOT and will not play anything. The HU isn't hot at all, and it's said this for months. It says that even when the car hasn't started in two days. I've looked online for an answer and have yet to find anyth...

Hood replacement
Shortly after posting on here about replacing my hood latch (which hadn't happened yet), my hood ended up blowing back over my windshield, shattered it, bent the hood hinges, etc. Now that I've replaced my windshield, I need a new hood. How difficult should I expect it to be to replace myself? I hav...

96 850 Turbo - Electrical Issues (headlights/turn signals)
I'm not sure where to start with this problem, so I'll just explain what happens. If the headlights are off, my right turn signal will make my headlights flash. If the headlights are on, the right turn signal is always on. It doesn't flash at all, just is consistently on. It also shows in the dash t...

1996 Volvo 850 Turbo - Need to replace center hood latch
Long story short, the cable to the latches on the sides broke, the middle latch was already broken when I bought it. Today I was able to grab the cable and yank it until the passenger side came unlatched, however the driver's side was toast. The cable was completely detached from the latch. Used a h...
