I think it should be kept in place because......
Just like manufacturers have had to take measures to avoid the danger of a stuck open throttle due to throttle body icing, this is likely another safety measure. The throttle spring has a lot of return force on it (to ensure it will close once released) and would likely be able to close itself regar...

Re: Subframe weld nut
Thanks. My door jam weld is already broken. I sort of like it that way. Makes it easier to open and close the door 😁. I agree. This is definitely weldable and it's not the crazy setup I thought it was originally with two layers and the top layer obscuring the job. What I am still concerned about is ...

I was wrong. It's just one layer, but.....
17473550902824544007944265474036.jpg It's still not an easy weld job and I don't even have a welder. I imagine a welder would want quite a bit of money to deal with this because it's sort of complicated. Sorry I wrote all that crap before trying to explain what I thought was going on when I had onl...

Subframe weld nut
Has anyone dealt with the subframe problem on a p80 chassis in which the receiver for the main subframe bolts has been damaged? This is the passenger side rear mount of the subframe on my 96 850 turbo wagon. I'm referring to the threaded collar or welded nut, as some people call it, which is mounted...

Re: How to thread timing belt behind harmonic balancer
It's a 96 turbo. I know it's possible to get the belt by. What I really want to know is if I should go to the trouble of removing the things I suggested because it will make it easier on the belt. I have read that the fibers in these belts run lengthwise and can be damaged if strained laterally.

How to thread timing belt behind harmonic balancer
I'm looking for suggestions as to how to get the new timing belt onto the crank sprocket behind the harmonic balancer without removing the harmonic balancer and without twisting and straining the belt too much while trying to force it into place. I also don't want to get the belt covered in grime wh...

Re: Hydraulic timing belt tensioner question
Have you ever heard of someone experiencing this with a new tensioner before? Maybe they wouldn't even bother to mention it.

Better picture
I don't know if anyone can tell if this looks like the type of oil that is contained in the tensioner, having seen one that had released some of its hydraulic oil. Or does it look like some other kind of lubricant that is part of the assembly process?

Hydraulic timing belt tensioner question
I purchased an Aisin hydraulic timing belt tensioner for my 850 turbo from ipd recently and have not installed it yet. I have always heard that the criterion for the decision to replace this part when doing the timing belt was one or two timing belt intervals or if any oil was seen on the tensioner ...

Re: 850 timing parts manufacturers?
Aren't the later 850s on a 70,000 mile 7-year interval with a time "cap" of 10 years? My current genuine Volvo belt has about 70,000 miles and is about 10.5 years old and it's backside has hairline cracks where it goes around pulleys. I think it's running and thermal stresses have been fai...
