Re: '04 V70 2.5T "Brake failure Stop Safely" error on dash
Any chance the rear door shows open on the DIM when the door is closed? Any other failure warnings? Our '04 XC70 had the same brake failure warning, engine died on occasion, rear door open. Had scanned and many failure codes. Turned out the CEM had intermittent communication failures. I sent the CEM...

Re: Volvo S80 V8 cold start puff of blue smoke
I have looked at your start up video. My 2007 S80 V8 with ~ 82,000 miles does not exhibit smoke even if it sits unused for weeks. I use Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Ultra/Platinum 0W-40. I doubt a slight overfill or slight side to side jacking would cause the start up smoke. Perhaps try a synthetic high mile...

Re: 04 XC70 Transmission Service Required - where to start?
Our 2004 XC70 had CEM problems. Sent to XeMODeX. Quick turn around and no further issues in 4 years, 35,000 miles. As I recall, the CEM is squeezed between the bracket ear. Push the ear and the CEM twists free. Just hard to access and see. Brut force not required.

Re: Complete spring seat failure or something else?
I just replaced a broken spring in our 2004 XC70, ~ 135,000 miles. You have a major suspension failure. I would not drive risking additional damage. Suggest replacing struts, springs and all related components. I could not compress the spring with two quality spring compressors. I took all the parts...

Re: 2006 XC90 V8 - Low Oil Level Warning - Check Engine
On my 2007 S80 V8, the low oil level indication comes on when the level is at the low level on the dip stick.

Re: 02 S60 right fuel tank left fuel tank
Suspect the level transmitter sticking showing fuel in the tank, but no fuel available to pump to engine. Suggest never allowing fuel level to drop this low as the fuel cools the fuel pump motor.

Re: PCV Replacement - broken hose
That hose provides the vacuum for the crankcase. It is critical this hose be clear. Replacement of the hose is expensive (part ~ $200) and typically required as the tube becomes clogged and brittle from the engine heat. Do not delay replacing as excessive crankcase pressure may blow out seals result...

Re: XC70 Parking Brake problem
If parking brake shoes are original, time to replace as the brake material delaminates from the metal backing. A loose shoe remnant can jam and cause the wheel to lock with potentially causing hub damage. Easy to pull the rotor and examine parts. When our 2004 XC70 locked a wheel, I removed rotor an...

Re: Crud Under Oil Cap
Do not delay servicing, replacing the PVC components. The crankcase pressure will cause the seals to leak or blow out. Certainly sludge throughout the engine. At purchase, the grate under the oil cap on our 2004 XC70 looked similar, but not quite as coated. Our crankcase pressure was negative, After...
