Re: Torque specs for V70 2013 brakes

I'm going to help myself here. After some research, I will settle on 200Nm for the M14 bolts. For a dry bolt (no lubrication on threads), this produces the 70%-of-proof-load tension in the bolt that is usually the target for any bolt. My torque wrench maxes out at 200Nm and does not work anymore at ...

Re: Torque specs for V70 2013 brakes

I actually needed to remove caliper with holding bracket as was also replacing discs. Caliper to hub bolts are 200Nm. Guide pins are 28Nm Confirmed by Haynes manual and Vida. Thanks, Daniel I wonder if these torque specs are correct? 200Nm sounds like an awful lot. I sheared off those bolts trying ...

How does the timing belt tensioner on Diesel P3's work?

Fellow gearheads, today I have replaced the timing belt (and lots more) on my 2010 V70 D3 engine. Though I would like to check with your wisdom whether I tensioned the belt correctly. The tensioner looks like this: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-timing-belt-tensioner-30637955oe The installat...

Re: Volve S80 2008 - code 163

I have V70 P3 MY 2010. I can confirm that releasing the trip reset after three flashes resets the service overdue notification!
If I keep the trip reset pressed for longer I also get the 163 code and no success in resetting the SRL. Thanks!

Re: 850 OBD Codes read

Hey, I also have a DTC 3-1-2 on A3, meaning "right front wheel sensor circuit open or short". There is a separate DTC for defective sensor, while circuit is ok. So before I try to replace the sensor, I would like to check the cable but don't know how. Has anyone tried this before? The most...

Re: 1996 850 - Fuel filter change tips

Thanks for the answer, abscate. Unfortunately it did not work, so I cut the old line and got some outside help. I was provided two Renault quick connectors for standard 8mm fuel lines and a piece of salvaged 8mm fuel line. Plan was to just stick a piece of new line into the old line (securing it wit...

Re: 1996 850 - Fuel filter change tips

Hi everyone, I wanted to change the fuel filter on my '96 850 but I cannot get the lines of the old one. They are stuck so badly, that the metal "nose" on one side filter filter already broke off and is now stuck in the fuel line connector. I've tried to extract it until it was mangled bey...

Re: 96 850 judders while braking and accelerating/coasting

I got lucky. Although the fitting was badly mangled from previous owners/bad mechanics, it could be loosened with a special brakeline-fitting-wrench (which costs a whopping 35€ - for a single wrench!). So I simply replaced the caliper, fit the old brake line and fitting and bled the system. With new...

Re: 96 850 judders while braking and accelerating/coasting

A lot of time has passed and I recently started working on the car again. A friend noted some rust on the rear brake rotors and told me to check the pads. I ordered some cheap replacement pads and went to work. One piston the rear right (passengers side) caliper is frozen, the pad wear is very uneve...

Re: 1997 850 Problems after Change to Synthetic Oil

An access port to the RMS simply doesn't make sense. It's right at the interface between engine and transmission, no "access port" could get you there without taking off the transmission. Also, these things usually don't blow. The PCV system on my brick has been in near perfect condition w...
