Source for 940 Overdrive Solenoid? 1993 940 Turbo Wagon
Hi, 1993 940 Turbo Wagon I don't need to discuss whether or not my overdrive solenoid is bad. I've had it disabled for a long time so that OD is always available. Now I am thinking of fixing it so that I can tow again without OD. Just assuming my solenoid is bad, is there anyplace where you can buy ...

Flex Pipe on Exhaust Manifold 1998 V70 Non-turbo question
While replacing the exhaust system on my non-turbo 98 V70, I struggled mightily (MIGHTILY) to get those four nuts off. I finally got three off and had to drill out one broken stud. I did everything to these nuts including Liquid Wrench, lots of heat (repeatedly), an impact gun, cold chisels, and bol...

Re: PCV Write-up for 1999+ Volvo 5-cylinder 31325709
Ask that of the list in general when you have the engine out! There's no limit to what you can replace as preventive maintenance. The trick is knowing where to stop. There are certainly some seals and turbo cooling hoses behind the engine. I have a T5 Turbo in my S70 which differs in many ways from ...

Re: PCV Write-up for 1999+ Volvo 5-cylinder 31325709
I'm not the ultimate expert on these cars. However, if you have negative pressure (vacuum) under those conditions, I would say that proves the PCV system is functioning. Cam seals, like every other part on the car, have a service life. Eventually, they need to be replaced even if there is no problem...

Yes, They do really light up the road. In fact sometimes it's too bright when I'm driving through construction with lots of reflective barrels/markers everywhere. Cars approaching you are likely completely blinded. Half the newer vehicles on the road now blind you when approaching, anyway. I rememb...

Re: 1999 v70 NA battery drain
I bought one of these and have found it to be both cheap and satisfactory. It also supplies some information about what it's actually doing. Nexpeak 1.75-Amp Car Battery Charger on AMAZON. $17 I read through the thread and see that you bought a new battery. I just replaced the battery in my 940. It ...

Re: 850 Fan not operating completely stumped. Help!!!
As hausmeister posted, I used the Torque Android app with a bluetooth OBD2 reader. Torque will let you see what the temperature sensor THINKS the temperature is. In my case, it was reading lower than the actual temperature, and the fan was never commanded to turn on by the ECU. My car was overheatin...

Re: Two quick O2 sensor questions...
Just took the car out for a 50 mile drive under a variety of speeds and conditions. Shut it off and started it a few times. Ran it on the highway at 70 mph. Country roads. Steep hills. No O2 sensor errors. I suspect that there was a bad connection. May have to get down in there and clean up the plug...

Re: 850 Fan not operating completely stumped. Help!!!
Sounds an awful lot like the problem I was just posting about the temperature sensor below the thermostat housing. The Facet temp sensor is sold by FCP with many good reviews and is working so far in my car. They sell for about $18 on Amazon U.S. Neil, I'd question those Volvo OEM sensors. The one i...
