Re: 98 V70 T5 Crap Idle/Performance after engine is warmed u
Bump to this soap opera again So it seems that the cam boss/thrust area on the exhaust side (timing cover) was cracked about 1/4 down. That would have been found. Machinist at head shop turned over paper, found that the deck measured 5.060", just a literal hair under minimum thickness for the h...

Re: 98 V70 T5 Crap Idle/Performance after engine is warmed u
Yup, and the reportedly "good" head I picked up has a cracked cam girdle (or cam truss? )...I'm going to check it out tomorrow, the head shop said it was at the back of the head. It also needs a valve grind. May scrap it and get my original head repaired. Ugh this beginning to be a nightma...

Diagnosed burned valve. 185psi in all cylinders except #4, where it was 125. I have a head being prepped so I'll start tear down and head swap within the next week. Can't wait to get this monster back on the road.

Great, thanks!
going to look at it this weekend. Barring any set backs looks like this project is a go.

Re: 98 V70 T5, Auto to Manual Conversion
Lucky can burn your ECU to be compatible with the manual and, since you already bought the Green Tune, I think he will cut you a deal on it. You just take the TCU out altogether. There are lots of little things that are a pain but one of the biggest problems is often overlooked, the console. If you...

98 V70 T5, Auto to Manual Conversion
Looks like a junked 98 S70 T5M is falling into my lap within the next week. My current wagon needs a new head due to a burned valve. Question is, how easy would an auto to manual swap be, granted if the motor is proven healthy, as I would be swapping over the engine as well if this is the case. I've...

Re: 1997 850 CV removal -- stuck now
If the axle you're trying to remove is an aftermarket replacement, you may need to go through the other side and give it some good direct pounds on the axle shaft. I've experienced stuck axles due to poor design of this before. OEM are either oval or have a triangular shape to them. Aftermarket axle...

Just a thought...could a bad O2 sensor make it run like this, even though CEL? I'm not too familiar with Motronic Engine Management, but on the older Mazda OBD1 systems, the O2 sensor was ignored prior to closed-loop operation. Is this the same habit for Motronic 4.4? I haven't touched the car in ov...

Re: What has failed on your 1992-2000 FWD or AWD Volvo?
95 850 - Climate Control sensor sometimes goes nuts, ABS ring on passenger side CV Axle came loose causing all sorts of ABS issues, Leaking radiator and oil cooler lines. 98 V70 - Rear/side defrosters don't work, steering rack showing signs of going bad, driver seat seams coming undone from alcantar...
