I rotated (adjusted) the white cam that drives the damper. The white cam seems the stay put with friction. Some tape should work if it is loose. For other dampers without the cam setup, I would use a 9 volt battery to adjust damper motor, and then mount the motor with electrically disconnected. Bill

I just checked if 1999 volvo is included in "IM OBD Vechicles Readiness Exception List" it is not. 96 and 87 850's and 1998 v70, s70 and v90 are included on the exception list.

The 1998 volvo is a special case for emission in PA and CA and many other states. I don't know about Volvo 1999. I don't need any "ready test" completed in PA. I have used the Akebono ceramic, and like them. Low dusting. But for best bite I go back to oem sometimes. When you get older you don't care but dust some much. This is mainly on my 300sd but all the same.

I just had the same problem on a 1998 v70. Ended up being coil. I checked cam, crank sensor and fuel pressure. All checked out. My secondary on coil was high resistance. (my problem Coil).

Check "main relay" I think it is up stream to ignition (coils). Relay is yellow. Can be swapped with one next to it (SAS Realy).

Update my 98v70xc has 232k miles, the 300sd has 349.5k miles, corvair 69k miles.

the 300sd and the v70xc get the same fuel mileage. The 300sd take diesel, the v70xc take premiun. both get comparable mileage, but the 300sd is much better city. my volvo idles too high and pull in drive.

all i saw was bmw, volvo, mercedes,. I have owned all, Plus corvair, honda, buick. I still have 1965 corvair, 1985 300sd , and 1998 v70xc, (drive shaft removed)

The Gabriel G57040 fit fine on the xc. Ride is 1/2" lower than old original 200k miles struts. Ride is much improved. I had to replace because of failed mount (Strut trying to go thur hood). Easy install.

FCP euro has different part numbers for the struts between xc and others. I'm thinking the spring mount on the strut is mounted at a different height on the strut. Very few options for the xc's struts replacements.

Dear Truck, There is a flywheel adapation procedure. You need to do this first. It is not easy to do. Do a search for the procedure. Basically the cpu needs to learn between a coast down and a miss fire. With a auto you need an empty highway and third gear. I will never disconnect my battery again.
