Re: Volvo 850 T5-R on wheelers dealers

What I don’t get is the fascination with the T5-R, the T5 has the same hp. The only cool thing it has is the nice 17” rims and slightly better seats. It’s not like comparing a M3 to a regular 3 series.

Re: Volvo 850 T5-R on wheelers dealers

I watched this ep since it had the T5-R. I have to say I was very disappointed. Ok, they did good on the bodywork. But as was said, the crack was at the very least not the only problem with this car. What about (vacuum) hoses, adjusting the wastegate and making sure all the related components are o...

Re: Thermostat Replacement Advice

I think thermostats get lazy or don’t seal well. My 850 would take a long time to get to operating temp, when I replaced the OEM wahler thermostat it looked fine. It wasn’t broken and was closed. I replaced it with a Mahle and it warms up much quicker. No codes were thrown

So far my Febi is holding up. Are you sure it is TRW, they make the tie rods for these cars not the control arms

Re: 850 rear flexi-brake hoses. How to replace?

Those v jaw pliers are great and good info. But I would be hesitant to replace the Volvo hard lines because I think they are some kind of bronze or brass alloy, they don’t rust. I’d be very curious to know what they used. Many replacement lines are coated steel. My Acura and Honda’s used coated stee...

Re: 850 rear flexi-brake hoses. How to replace?

Maybe it doesn't have the prop valve, however I believe all cars built since the 70s or 80s have a dual circuit master cylinder like this:

Re: 850 rear flexi-brake hoses. How to replace?

I’m in the same boat, original hose and no desire/will to tackle it. They will probably be seized to hell. Yes you are correct there is a proportioning valve. And yes the hose you see is just a shield. If the inner hose leaks the outer hose should contain the fluid I believe. I’ve replaced my front ...
