Re: 2004 XC90 2.5L High-pitched whine when key turned part w

OK, thanks to Swedespeed finding a couple of links on what sounded similar. It turns out there have been issues with hoses and a check valve on the brake booster pump getting old. So I followed the noise and found that a tube had become disconnected from the booster. I had done a transmission flush ...

2004 XC90 2.5L High-pitched whine when key turned part way

Recently have begun hearing a high-pitched whine, like an electric motor on overdrive, as the ignition key gets to position 1. If I leave it there for a minute it stops, but as soon as I start the car it comes back, then it stops for a short while and then comes back. It sounds like a fuel pump moto...

Re: 2004 XC90 Left side radio backlights out

Yes, the Honda dealer was the solution for the bulbs. All bulbs now replaced and they work fine. Remember to save the small blue "hood" that covers each bulb. I may have to run a jumper wire from a known power terminal to the pin for the bulb power. Was hoping someone out there had a pin d...

Re: 2004 XC90 Left side radio backlights out

OK, I am wondering if anyone has a wiring diagram for these lights, or a pin-out diagram for the small connector that feeds this left-side panel? It seems that the lights are no longer getting power, so I need to trace the problem.
Thanks

2004 XC90 Left side radio backlights out

I replaced left side bulbs and moved bulbs from the right side of the radio which is working to the left side of the radio and the left side is still out. Any chance another cable is loose or is there a fuse for only the left side?

Re: 2004 XC90 "Sealed" Transmission?

OK - I must have been tired and affected by the heat: I took a little more time today to search and found the dipstick. It looks like a little yellow top hat, with a spring-clip holding it in place on what would be described as the rim of the hat. It is not easy to reach, it is true, and I can't ima...

Re: 2004 XC90 "Sealed" Transmission?

What if the transmission code is AW55-51SN and is a FWD? I have pushed a lot of hoses out of the way, I have crawled under the car without splashguard, and I can't find the yellow ring either.

Re: 2004 XC90 Surging Idle & engine dies

UPDATE: Yes, disconnecting the battery for 30 sec. does clear the "computer" - after doing this, the surging and engine issue cleared immediately. Next issue that showed up was "No Oil Pressure - Stop Engine"; I knew I had enough oil, but the pressure warning got me on this site ...

2004 XC90 Surging Idle & engine dies

Hello, I've been searching Volvo forums while I step through the problem I've got: about a month ago my 2.5 T5 starting surging lightly at idle. Within a week it was really rough and would die after giving it a little gas. My local mechanic didn't give me the actual codes, but said it was something ...
