Re: Vida CEM swapping

I know the information must be in this thread, but it is not easy to find. I finally cracked my P1 C70 2008 CEM pin and would like to backup the bin if the CEM ever breaks. Is it possible to do this over OBD?

Problem solved. The head has been taken off at some point and the VVT was not properly set. Local Volvo dealer lent me the cam locking tool and now it is working perfect and a bit more low end torque too. Now it just needs a little bit more boost :D.

Re: 2000 C70 B5204T4 harsh jerking

We were able to clone the immobilizer eeprom to another ECM. This means we have different hardware and software. Unfortunately that didn't help. Well at least the ECM seems to be working. All the camshaft adaptation values show 80 degrees KW in Vida. Why is that? Next we will take the VVT wheel off ...

Re: 2000 C70 B5204T4 harsh jerking

Have you done a wiring inspection between the ECU and CVVT solenoid, or looked at the output of the ECU pin directly? The solenoid gets constant 12V from the battery and the ECU is grounding the other pin so there is no "output" from the ECU. This grounding is rapidly changing on and off ...

Re: 2000 C70 B5204T4 harsh jerking

Now we tested the CVVT solenoid with an adjustable power supply. The car works perfect with some voltage (like 6V) applied to the solenoid. There is no rpm drop when touching the accelerator and the engine runs smooth under 2000 rpm. Any ideas? Is the ECM faulty or is the software faulty? Should I t...

Re: 2000 C70 B5204T4 harsh jerking

Have you tried the engine temperature sensor? I checked the sensor reading in Vida (and even tried resistors in place of the sensor) but now that you mentioned it I will definitely try another sensor. If the sensor is not working there should be some kind of substitute value. Maybe I will try it wi...

Re: 2000 C70 B5204T4 harsh jerking

Thanks for the suggestions. There's nothing obviously wrong with the LTFT, STFT and O2 readings. We cleaned the ETM while we installed the contactless TPS. Now we have replaced a couple of vacuum lines and took the intake manifold off. Then after we installed the intake manifold (with a new gasket) ...

Re: 2000 C70 B5204T4 harsh jerking

Now I have changed the crankshaft sensor and injectors but no help. It seems that the car has problems with low load. By that I mean the problems are most noticeable when trying to rev at idle (no load) and lessens by every gear change up (when driving). In 5th gear it is hardly noticeable. And if I...

Re: 2000 C70 B5204T4 harsh jerking

Seals inside oil sump replaced. Oil pressure is better now. There was a howling sound coming from the turbo when idling with a hot engine and maybe that was because of low oil pressure. Replaced also the crank sensor but no help. We even tried to fool the engine temperature with a couple of resistor...

Re: 2000 C70 B5204T4 harsh jerking

Thanks for the idea. Replaced the cam position sensor but unfortunately it didn't help. From a cold start the engine seems to work perfect for a while. Problems begin when the temperature needle rises near the center mark. But even when the engine is warm it idles perfect. Could it be an ECU problem...
