Re: 2008 V70 P0190 Fuel Pressure Sensor

I just did this on a 2008 XC70 with the 3.2 engine. For the life of me, I could not get a torx bit in that ridiculously tiny space, so here is what I did: 1. Remove plastic engine cover 2. Remove 20amp fuel pump fuse from fuse box under glove box 3. Start engine to relieve fuel pressure (it died ins...

Re: 2003 S60 - Destroyed Shift Module?

This was not a fun project for my hands, although it didn't take long to complete. -Position seats as far back as they will go. -Remove lower console panes on each side. -Pop out the pen holder below the Heating & Cooling controls -The trim around the shift console needs to be carefully pried up...

Re: 2002 S60 Rough idle but smooth at higher RPM

If it runs better with MAF disconnected, that could be suspect. How are the ignition coils? Any hairline cracks in them?

Re: 2002 S60 Misfire diagnosis, not ignition coils

Whoah there, slow down. Head replacement is a last resort! First, pull the coil packs and make sure none of them have cracks anywhere (slide the rubber boots down too). Make sure plugs are gapped appropriately. Check and make sure all vacuum lines are tight. Pull injector connectors one by one and s...

Re: 2002 V70XC AT w/geartronic - shift flare occasionally

Doing a valve body or solenoid exchange is at the front of the transmission, so it should not matter if it is fwd or awd. I've had good luck with replacing the linear solenoids with rostra solenoids, adding an inline magnefine filter, new fluid, and importantly the shift adaptation procedure. Before...

Re: 2005 xc70 tranny fluid change interval

I like to pull the drain plug on the transmission every other oil change, so every 15k miles or so. Drain about 3.8 qts and add the same. This keeps the fluid nice and fresh. Obviously if you notice that the trans is getting a little clunky, change the fluid asap.

Re: 2003 xc70 how complicated is it to replace selenoids

I've had good luck with rostra solenoids, about a $250 fix, plus new fluid and inline magnefine filter. It's very important to do the transmission adaptation procedure.

Once you've done it once, it's pretty straight-forward. There are a few different pdf's with instructions.

2001 Volvo V70 T5 Misfire/Tick

Interesting story. I was diagnosing a misfire along with a tick on a 2001 V70 T5 with 124k miles. Plugged in the dice unit and showed cylinder 5 misfire. I pulled the top plastic cover off and noticed that exhaust and moisture was shooting out of the number 5 coil pack breather hole! I pulled the co...

Re: Automatic Aw55-50/51sn Transmissions?

Are you talking about pre 1999 transmissions? Or post 2002 transmissions? They are not easily swapped. Better to rebuild your 1999-2002 transmission than try to swap in another
