another quick question though,the p0500 code -vehicle speed sensor A- is this code why my speedometer doesn't work?

good, after we get the vaccum hose fixed maybe I can start driving it again and leave the old gas hog truck parked.

will the p0410 code give me problems that will keep my car from running or can I wait about a week or so before fixing it after I fix the rotted off hose.

We don't have a code scanner but was thinking about getting one. Do the one that cost around $50 or less at auto zone read the codes for these cars?
