Re: 1994 850 na fuel pressure trouble

Since my original post, I discovered that's airbox thermostat was bad, since replacing it, I no longer feel what I described as hesitation. Also I noticed that the rough idle seems to be noticeably mostly when the transmission is in park with the engine running, regardless of temp.

Re: 1994 850 na fuel pressure trouble

Thanks for the details, lee. It seemed odd to me that i wasn't able to get a reading. Is there a specific "fuel pressure gauge?" I read somewhere that a basic tire gauge would be adequate. If this is wrong, then that could be my issue. I'm a relative newbie at this kind of thing.

1994 850 na fuel pressure trouble

Hey all, i'm having an impossible time getting a proper fuel pressure reading on my '94 850 na AT 164k miles. Firstly, the issue i'm trying to diagnose: Baby doesn't like to start right up after sitting long enough for the engine to cool to ambient temp (overnight, for instance). I'll crank her for ...

Re: 1994 850/na wagon Throttle Body leaking oil into TPS

Thanks lee.

What I'm taking away from this is that once the PCV system is serviced, this will likely not be an issue, but that I should do said service soon, and while I have the intake all ripped apart, I should take that opportunity to clean the throttle body and replace the gasket.

1994 850/na wagon Throttle Body leaking oil into TPS

Hey everyone! Long story short, I had to replace my throttle position sensor this weekend, no big deal. But when I pulled the old sensor off, i noticed that it was full of oil. In fact, the oil was flowing through the sensor and out into the plug wire. I'm fairly confident this is the source of my r...

Re: 1994 850 NA oil level on camshaft

Awesome, thanks. Robert's videos are pretty great. I'll plan on doing the PCV and Timing job within the next 6 weeks, and maybe I'll Add an ATF flush to that list. I'll leave the cam seals alone for the time being.

thank you both for being so helpful.

Re: 1994 850 NA oil level on camshaft

Thanks for the response. I realize it's a newbie question. I have inspected the timing belt visually, and while it's not possible to tell for sure (no sticker) the lettering on the timing belt is still bright and readable, and it's a continental. I'm planning that job in conjunction with the PCV rep...

1994 850 NA oil level on camshaft

Hello everyone, this is my first post in this forum, 3 weeks into ownership of my first Volvo. My knowledge of engines is limited beyond the usual checks and maintenance, but I'm fairly inclined mechanically, and have done minor work on all of my past vehicles. Here goes: I recently purchased a 1994...
