Re: 2001 V70 electrical issues, CEM?
So last week my "new" CEM arrived in the mail. I had it repaired by Erich Technical Support in the Netherlands (https://www.ets1.nl/). As my module was completely bricked, he pulled the memory chip out, back up the data, copied it into a new chip, and put that into a new CEM. Received my n...

Re: 2001 V70 electrical issues, CEM?
No comms whatsoever. The car has been completely dead since I posted this, even when stone cold. Is the overheating known to cause permanent damage? The failure I experienced was very sudden - the car went from being 100% fine one minute, to all systems failing one by one, to nothing working at all ...

Re: 2001 V70 electrical issues, CEM?
Codes cannot be read as the OBD has no comms. I removed the CEM, inspected it thoroughly but no sign of water ingress whatsoever. Cleaned it with contact spray, dried it with a blow drier and retested, no luck. Checked and measured the ground point under the door sill plastic trim, all perfect. All ...

2001 V70 electrical issues, CEM?
My 2001 V70 developed some electrical issues, as if it's possessed by a demon. It drove 100% fine, then I parked it for 30 minutes. When turning on the ignition again, at first I got a "start not possible, please try again" message. Cranking was of course not possible. Then red SRS and bra...

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
On another note, gotta say I always chose Nissens for cooling system stuff, but starting to be quite suspicious of their quality lately. - fitted a new expansion tank + cap from them a while ago, suddenly coolant started being pushed out of the system via the brand-new Nissens cap. The pressure rele...

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
The seller does look like a semi-official dealership or something, and has 98% positive feedback, so seems reputable enough. Indeed it's impossible to know these days.
I'll try to trigger their 2-year warranty on parts and see how that goes. Thanks!

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
Hey guys, I have a parts related question which I think fit in the spirit of this thread. So, Last summer one of my heater hoses failed. I know to avoid URO, so I looked for an OEM one. Searching by the part number, I found an ebay shop selling a brand new, Genuine Volvo hose. IIRC the hose did arri...

2001 T5 exhaust VVT solenoid wiring diameter?
Good evening everyone, I hope you are all well. I'm currently replacing the connector for the VVT solenoid on my 2001 T5 (exhaust-only). Because this part of the wiring was already repaired before and I don't really trust any previous work on this car, I was looking to cut it off upstream of the old...

Re: Cooling system clogged?
Update: 1) Did a compression test last weekend. All cylinders between 150 and 160 psi (~10 to 11 bar). Pretty happy with that, especially the consistency. 2) Spark plugs looked fine color-wise with no signs of burning anything that shouldn't be in the combustion chambers. Although they did look very...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
Today I found that the blower motor being turned on when I got to the car about an hour after parking it is not a sign that the PO has messed up the wiring on the CCM, but rather a handy feature to remove condensation from the AC evaporator and prevent nasty things from festering inside the car. I'v...
