Re: can't find socket to replace coolant temp sensor

You can buy a set of deep sockets from harbor freight. Cut a slot in the one you need. Then take the whole set and exchange it for a new one. No questions asked. No receipt. I've literally done it with pointing and eyebrow raises.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Ok I figured out the mystery *pop* from the maiden voyage. The intake from the turbo blew off at the throttle body. This morning I drove the xc90 on a Sunday morning donut run and she was running loud with sluggish power. I thought I was hearing an exhaust leak. I can't believe it drove as well as i...

Re: P80 P2 battery size H6 H7 Group 48 49 info ( will H7 fit in p80j

My H6 battery measures 13.75 inches in length. I compared to my 850 battery location. The only way I can see it would fit is by removing the fresh air snorkel.

Re: P80 P2 battery size H6 H7 Group 48 49 info ( will H7 fit in p80j

Going to not tempt fate and replace the P2 battery , since it from 2013 :D Can I use either an H6 or H7 in the standard P80 battery tray? Specs show same height and width, with the H7 being 1.25 inches longer. I want to use the H7 in Elizabeth , then swap in the bigger battery into the P2 later I j...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Excellent! It’s best to give them 20-30 minutes at idle to let the lifters pump up, if you drive it, keep it under 3000 rpm. Click click click. If valve timing isn’t sorted out yet, you can get a pop or two from the exhaust I see. So the VVT can be a bit touchy after sitting for 6 months? If a cam ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Today is the day people. The xc90 lives! Finish assembling all the little bits in the engine bay. Changed the oil and filter. Added 1 gallon of coolant and started the engine. She idled well. The cams are a little clacky but I'm hoping that will iron out as oil makes its way through there. I took a ...

I've tried both a wobble and a flex drive approvhing from above and below. I cannot get it to seat enough to turn the bolt. I think I may have to loosen the thermostat housing to give me more wiggle room.

Installed and torqued all manifold bolts
How on earth do you torque the far left intake manifold bolt by the thermostat?

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

After yesterday's cam, cover and timing belt install. This morning was productive. I spent way too much time blindly threading a banjo bolt underneath the xc90 intake. Then got spent even more time getting the serpentine belt on. Even with the tensioner fully open its a nightmare. Then re installed ...

I didn't realize there were companies doing custom alternator builds. Is this all new parts? I would much rather have that than a rebuilt alternator.
