Re: Rear Shocks. Can't access upper mount bolts. Misaligned

Hey Everyone, Job completed. I changed the two front struts. Installed pre-loaded strut assemblies. And the two rear shock absorbers. In hindsight it wasn't that difficult. I actually used the jack that came with my car to force the rear wheels down enough so that I could get the rear shocks back on...

Re: Rear Shocks. Can't access upper mount bolts. Misaligned

I have a 2006 S60 2.5T AWD. No ‘R’. You’re right, I have the standard like in the blue square. Still surprised because all the standard videos I watched had the standard shocks. Heck I had the exact situation as the original poster. I guess when I searched for videos to ‘replace rear shocks on AWD S...

Thank you both for the quick replies. More questions now that I see what I’m getting into. Would my struts have the sensors and electrical connections too? I ask because first I thought I had basic struts. Now I see they’re different. But are they the higher end struts with all the bells and whistle...

Re: Rear Shocks. Can't access upper mount bolts. Misaligned

Thanks for the advice. Isn’t it possible to cut away about 1/4 inch of the metal body to get at that center shock bolt? Then pull the shock out through the spring? I’m really disappointed because I gave my VIN to the dealer parts manager and he gave me the part number I needed. I used that to search...

Hello original poster. What did you end up doing for your rear ‘shocks’? I discovered the same issue today. I am thoroughly surprised because I ordered my shocks from IPD. I made sure they fit my vehicle. Even spoke to them on the phone and told them I have an AWD. Does this mean I need to remove th...

Hey docker, I assume you figured this out since its been over 6 months. In case you haven't. I ran into a similar issue on my 2006 S60 AWD 2.5T. My cruise control wasn't working consistently. I read on the forum that it could be the brake pedal position sensor. I watched the FCP Euro video and it lo...

Thanks for all of the advice. The confusing part to me is that some of the assembled kits say 'loaded' and some of the assembled kits don't say 'loaded'. Re: camshaft locking tool broke...... Topic is solved

Hey guys and gals. I've replaced the camshaft seals and hub o-rings for both my intake and exhaust hubs. Now I'm ready to put it all back together. I am reading the CVVT hub setting guide and I have a bunch of questions. Here are the first few: 1. I rotated my engine to TDC and attached the rear cam...

Re: Manually rotating camshafts by hand using camshaft locking tool, did I damage the valves? Topic is solved

Jeez I don't know how everyone keeps these threads separate in their heads. So I read in a post somewhere that you can use the locking tool to adjust the cams. And I did just that and it worked out fine. Now I'm just trying to pinpoint the true source of my oil leak. Can't see how its the camshaft s...

Re: camshaft locking tool broke...... Topic is solved

True, not sure if the counter hold tool would prevent the tabs from breaking, don't think so, good idea to use one though anyway. So I put the timing belt back on and turned the engine over numerous times looking for the timing marks on the crankshaft gear. Finally found them after about 12 turns. L...

Re: camshaft locking tool broke...... Topic is solved

oh i see. you are correct. i used the universal front cam lock tool. doesn’t see like it gave way though. it’s definitley not as strong as counter hold could be. i should use a counter hold. you’re right. i thought the rear camshaft locking tool would be enough. oh and i had the timing belt still on...

Re: camshaft locking tool broke...... Topic is solved

Okay, so now that I've been working on this front camshaft seal replacement job for a few days I'm starting to understand the CVVT Hub Setting guide posted by F250 in 2016. It says use the cam locking tool for any minor adjustments. Thats my situation right there. And now I see in one of the picture...

Wow, nice figures on this post. That is exactly the same situation I am in. What did you end up doing? My locking tool is in exactly the same position that your figure shows and I'm not sure if I can just use the tool to line em up and lock it.

Thanks.

Re: camshaft locking tool broke...... Topic is solved

Broken Locking Tool 1.jpg Hey guys, so I purchased the new camshaft locking tool from FCP Euro for $107 and let me tell you, at first glance it looks and feels 1,000 times better than the cheapo model I bought on eBay for $56 (which included the rest of the camshaft alignment set.). Anyway, so far ...

Re: camshaft locking tool broke...... Topic is solved

thanks for the replies. will try to answer all questions. no pic yet because the tool is still attached to the back of the cams. the little tabs that insert into the cam slots broke off allowing the cams to turn slightly. i guess i could manage a picture tonight, up close to the tool. i bought it on...

camshaft locking tool broke...... Topic is solved

I've read many of the posts on MVS and found so much valuable information. Which is how I've been able to get to this point in this current difficult repair job. I learned every job I've done on this forum. Thank you! Now to my problem...... (2006 Volvo S60 2.5T AWD) My goal is to replace my camshaf...

Re: how do I remove ETM

just a three year update for anyone who cares. I ended up replacing one of the exhaust valve solenoids and that fixed the 'limp home' issue that I was having. Also, for cheezo1001 up above....it was difficult but I did manage to get my ETM out from under the intercooler piping. just had to feel arou...

Re: 05 S60 P0027 & P0079

Same here. I replaced the solenoid. Light is off, hasn't come back on. The part was $150 + $20 tax + $20 fee. You get the fee back when you bring your old solenoid back to the dealer. I don't like it but that's how it works. Bottom line, CEL is off.

Good luck.

Re: Time for Regular Service Message Reset Procedures Topic is solved

I have a 2006 S60. I don't know what worked for me. All I know is, I tried the first way (didn't work), the second way (didn't work), then some way in between (it worked). The thing is off now, and I had been staring at that message for YEARS.

Thanks.

Re: how do I remove ETM

My issues started about a year ago while traveling up the Taconic State parkway on my way to the Adirondack mountains. My 2006 Volvo S60 went into LIMP Mode whilst in cruise control doing about 70mph. I let her cool down at a gas station and then proceeded to drive another 400 miles through the moun...
