1998 V70 T5 vs 1997 850 GLT Turbo

Not that I couldn't decide for myself but I was noticing a very nice local metallic turquoise '97 GLT turbo with dark gray leather interior in very nice condition for 3000.00. At the moment I have a '98 V70 T5 with 434,000 km on it, runs well enough and I just installed new control arms and sway bar...

Re: 1998 V70 T5 Parts compatibility with 1999

Thank you for the clarification - as far as the SIPS is concerned, is this an air bag issue? I am not quite clear on what it entails, just thought the SIPS on these earlier cars was structural only, as I said I am still learning! If a person did not care would there be any reason one could not simpl...

1998 V70 T5 Parts compatibility with 1999

I have an opportunity to purchase a non running NA S70 sedan, same color and interior as my V70 T5 ( dark gray leather ). I know about the engine/electrical differences. hydraulic lifters, coil packs, electronic throttle etc. but wondered about the doors - specifically the door locks as well as chan...

1998 V70 T5 Exhaust smoke after replacing hoses etc.

I am wondering what I might have done wrong after replacing the vacuum lines on the turbo, I also replaced the three contacts inside the pnp switch and generally cleaned the tranny area as well as all of the turbo hoses inside, which just had a bit of oil residue. The turbo itself had quite a lot of...

Re: 1998 V70 T5 Heater core junction screw

Found the obvious answer shortly after posting after coming across an image showing a standard fine threaded screw, which made sense. i found a suitable one and got everything together.

1998 V70 T5 Heater core junction screw

Not having come across specific information regarding the type of torx screw that retains the junction block with the two rigid aluminum pies into the back side of the heater core I am not sure if what was in there is original. The heater core itself was original though, dated from 1997 and the torx...

Re: 1998 V70 T5 Flashing arrow & mode switches

Ozark Lee = I appreciate your input and advice! I did row through the shifter when checking on the issue earlier and it did not clear it at the time, when I drove it around the lot yesterday it went into reverse just fine with the backup lights functioning. I will be calling the shop that the previo...

Re: 1998 V70 T5 Flashing arrow & mode switches

I had the car battery disconnected for over a week and was checking under the driver's mat and found coolant had soaked the carpet and the underlay so looks like a heater core - easy to do though as I found out. Meanwhile I started the car and the flashing arrow etc. was gone and it is now operating...

Re: 1998 V70 T5 Flashing arrow & mode switches

mecheng - Thank you for the advice on the transmission fluid, I have not checked the condition and levels yet, the car was only driven that one day and has been sitting since last month, the previous owner mentioning it was changed two years ago but I do like to start at a known point with a used ca...

1998 V70 T5 Flashing arrow & mode switches

New to the front drive Volvos after years of owning rear drive - still have a 245 and 745 but picked up this T5 with higher mileage, 437,000 km to be exact. It is a West coast car so is rust free with mostly highway mileage. We are the third owner and the car had a good maintenance schedule. Anyway,...
