Re: 98 S70 T5M: Diagnosing Cruise Control

At first, check the electrical switches above brake and clutch pedals. I don't remember which contact of CC module they are connected to. CC module will not activate vacuum pump until it "see" pedals fully released.

Re: OIL LEAKS

Where it leaks from? Gaskets, shaft seals or somewhere else?

Re: transmission from S40

Can you give more information? VINs of both cars, photos of id. plates on gearboxes? If you don't know VIN from S40, so, at least, year and engine model.

Re: Bad wires-total mess! Need help!

You mean TCV wire? It's connected to engine control relay (grey, clamped above the radiator) and NOT protected by fuse. So, in case of a short, it will burn in seconds.

Re: Bad wires-total mess! Need help!

Well, it is a little more serious damages, than just TCV wires... Why not to search the whole harness at junkyard? It's not difficult to replase it.

Re: Bad wires-total mess! Need help!

You need not to remove fuse or kick panels. One of two TCV wires (blue/brown) connected to crimped or soldered junction inside of engine wiring harness. It is the same wire that feeds injectors and idle air control valve (green). Second TCV wire (grey/black) connected directly to ECU, pin B41.

Re: Same engine. different bosch mafs?

MAF on my 1st photo is an insert from 0 280 217 107. I removed it from my own car (S70T5, 1997, M4.4) to make a photo, specially for you. I have not 0 280 217 002 right now, because I lent it to one of my clients. Maybe, later I'll make a photo. But they are REALLY different... 0 280 217 002 ...

Wow!!! I would have done this job for $1000 with my pleasure. For $3,700 I can rebuild the whole engine, including cost of spare parts, dismantling and installing. But I'm too far, unfortunately.

Re: Same engine. different bosch mafs?

Perhaps, I was not quite accurate, English is not my native language. Inserts for Jetronic and Motronic are different! They have the same dimensions and connector, but their characteristic maps are completely different, so they are not interchangeable. You are right, 0 280 217 107 is a number of MAF...
