Re: 99 V70 confused on TDC timing
UPDATE: i tightened everything down. double checked again and started it up. The engine started clean and idled well. I reved it up and it responded relatively well. i put the wheel back on and pulled it out of the garage and it make it past where i had made it before and i went several times up and...

Re: 99 V70 confused on TDC timing
I did find the notches on the cam sprocket. they are small. BUT they no longer matter (at least not right now) because the rear of the cams and the crankshaft are in alignment. i may loosen the sprockets and rotate the sprockets so that they line up with the notches in the upper cam cover. I just re...

Re: 99 V70 confused on TDC timing
the CPS looks in good shape. would that really make it run this poorly? the fuel filter is good. spark plugs could stand to be changed. but i fail to see how changing my front cam seals would mess up my spark plugs. what else should i check? i wish i could get it to an auto store to check the codes....

Re: 99 V70 confused on TDC timing
i turned the crankshaft one revolution and the camshafts turned 180 degrees and are still parallel with the head line. the front camshaft notches are now above the head line and the rear notches are below the line. i do not know if it has coil packs? how would i tell? the notches are lined up proper...

Re: 99 V70 confused on TDC timing
I have aligned the marks on the crankshaft. I put the mark on the block in between the 2 marks on the crankshaft teeth. With that aligned, the notches on the rear of the camshaft (drivers side) are parallel with the lines of the head (see the pics linked below). one concern I see is that that in Eri...

Re: 99 V70 confused on TDC timing
sweet. all of this is good info erikv11, rspi & Lee. thank you! to answer your question...when i originally put it back together the rear cam notches (driver side) were parallel with the head. at least really close, but i was only assuming that the crankshaft was in the correct place as i did no...

Re: 99 V70 confused on TDC timing
Thanks Lee! so to be clear. in regards to the position of the camshaft, I was asking about the grooves on the driver side of the camshaft (the side where the cam locking tool connects). the reason i ask is because my camshaft wheels/sprockets (passenger side of engine) did not have any factory calib...

99 V70 confused on TDC timing
short story... i had to replace the front cam seals on my 99 v70 BASE (no turbo, no AWD). everything went swimmingly until the cam lock tool slipped thus causing the cam wheel (not sure of term) to slip when i was breaking the three bolts free. I tried my best to put them back into the spot that I h...

Re: 99' S80 T6 Cam Seal Replacement/ Oil Leak Repair,Timing,
Great post. Thank you! I have a 2 part question. I have a '99 v70 Base (160K miles). I have a bad oil leak that appears to be form the front cam seals. This would be a result of the PCV having never been replaced. I replaced the PCV system this weekend and while it did not stop the leak, it did less...
