Hey guys. Got a 2000 s40 with the passenger low-beam intermittently out. I have traced it to the CEM. Does anybody have instructions for removing and replacing the relay and where can I find the replacement relays.

Getting ready to replace rear struts in my 2000 s40.

Do I need to use a spring compressor or are these small enough to push down by hand.

Does anybody know where I can buy the replacement relays for the CEM?

I only have windows 8.

Is there a version that I can buy that will work on windows 8?

When this car has been sitting for a little while for instance over night. When I first start it the RPM's spike to around 1.5-2k then immediately drop back down to 1000 or so. This just started happening. I understand that it revs higher to warm the car up quicker but, this is not what is happening...

I changed my plugs, coils, and wires at the same time and it made a difference in driveability. I used NGK iridium plugs instead though. When changing the coils I broke the connectors which are very fragile so I would recommend getting them and new clips. My wires were in similar condition as yours....

I just checked the code on my check engine light and the number is P1449 from looking around I've found it should mean Evaporative Check Solenoid Circuit Malfunction.

Have any of you had this problem? If so what did you find was the issue and how did you fix it?

Yeah, i'm feeling a lot more confident now. There is just too much conflicting information out there I wasn't sure what to believe.

Yes I do have that tool also have the crank alignment tool or stop. I bought it as a kit and it is the one that locks the cams from the rear. Okay I think I am reading too much about the 5 and 6 cylinder engines. In the manual I have it says that they are all similar. Think I am just reading to far ...
