Re: What are these pictures of in my XC90 engine compartment?

Looking at picture 3 - I see the MAF attached to the airbox, but the connector is installed so it is not the MAF plug.

Is this the 2.5T engine?

Re: 2004 S80 - Drivers Window STUCK down

If the door panel is off you should be able to do as suggested and jumper the wires. You can also test the motor's resistance with a VOM to see if it good. Test to see if a signal is being received wit a VOM. If no VOM just send it power and try to power it to raise the window.

Re: PCV vent hose broken

I have found a Snap On 10mm swivel socket the ideal tool for Volvo Intake bolts. I found the tool - left in my XC90 by a prior mechanic.

If I recall correctly the top picture is of a harness holder which keeps the MAF connector anchored to the Airbox. You can fashion a zip tie to hold it or just install it as is.

Re: ATF flush and pre-additives?

Not a "nit" at all - if Valvoline sells a better "more compatible" fluid I am glad to know of it.

I use MaxLife b/c it is cheap and easy to find AND compatible. Next time in need I will look for the LV.

Re: PCV vent hose broken

Honestly I don't see a short cut on the PCV. The main blockage is at the block. If the system is well serviced a flush may help, but I don't see much gain. I did the PCV on a S60 with 120k plus miles at the entire system was perfectly clean. Original owner ran synthetic and changed oil every 5k or l...

Re: PCV vent hose broken

The take away here is short cuts don't always work. Taking out the intake is not that bad a job with a swivel 10mm socket. It also allows the PCV system to be fully inspected and TB cleaned. There are many write ups and videos on the process it makes sense to just go for it. I suppose if one is expe...

Re: ETM repair

I assume you have the MM ETM. It has been a number of years since I did mine, so I don't recall exactly. My question to you is can you remove the ETM and visually inspect the carbon films. I know that when I did mine I saw they were the cause of the problem, but I don't recall if getting to them was...
