Re: DIY: 1998 V70 Axle CV Rubber Boots Tips/Tricks

The only boots I've been able to find are Rein. I used them for my 2000 R driver side axle, and it's been good so far, but I've only put maybe 800-1,000 miles on it.
Hopefully someone knows where to get quality axle boots, I need to rebuild an OE Volvo axle I have in the shed for my '98.

My 1999 has had two replacement J and L hoses, it looks like in my climate they live about 7-9 years max
Wonder if it's the salt... Slowly eroding them like a sand storm...
I wouldn't be surprised. I'm sure it's not much better for rubber than it is for uncoated metal.

Nice cat bmwdub! Almost missed it. Be careful, cats can turn you into a left leaning Democrat...

😀
Yeah, I shouldn't have to worry about that

He needs to approve of every car I bring home... it took a lot to get him out of the back seat!

Re: V8 Balance Shaft

FCP carries a kit that includes pretty much anything and everything you would need for the timing cover gasket job, including the sealant and PCV hoses. I might get that kit, but I don’t know about spending $65 on the Wurth sealant. Great tips though, I’ll probably change the water pump too. Like I ...

If you're referring to the charcoal canister, from a quick search, it should be in the same location as the P80 V70, which is under the passenger side rear door, just ahead of the gas tank.

Re: V8 Balance Shaft

How's the timing cover gasket? If you're going that far, you might as well do the timing cover as well, including the front crankshaft seal. What year is your mom's V8? 2005 was the bad year for the balance shaft bearing, and supposed to be fixed 2006 and later. But if you're in there that far, it'...

Re: 1996 850R intermittent brake pulsation over bumps

Nothing changes when you hit the TRACS button? That could be indicative of a failing ABS module, or other ABS/TRACS issues. You can't get flash codes on a '96, right? You probably need Vol-FCR or 850-OBD2 on Android to read ABS codes.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky!!)

Picked up another one... this time it's an '01 S60 2.4t. Not too bad overall, I think it'll clean up pretty well. The PO said the transmission went out, which wouldn't surprise me being an AW55, but I have a feeling that it's not the problem. Apparently he took out the turbo to swap into his '00 S70...
