Re: No Start After Head Gasket Replacement
I'm not sure what the compression was before I started taking it apart. It seems like it actually starts for about half a second and then dies out.

Re: No Start After Head Gasket Replacement
I reconnected the one ground strap that I removed from the head and the 2 grounds that connect to the coil bolts. I just put 4 more gallons of fuel in it. I can feel the fuel pump relay under the dash clicking. I just cranked it and plugs are wet and smell like gas

Re: No Start After Head Gasket Replacement
Also, when the key is turned on I can hear a high pitch ringing noise coming from right under the intake manifold. But when I put my ear to the fuel fill spout with the cap off I don't hear anything. Where is the relay for the in tank fuel pump?

Re: No Start After Head Gasket Replacement
Yes it is cranking. When I took the head off I didnt unplug each coil. I just took them off the valve cover and flipped the harness over to the side. And they go back on in the order that they come out pig the wiring harness.

Re: No Start After Head Gasket Replacement
Also, with the fuel line disconnected from the rail, gas does not come out pig the line with the key on. Only while cranking. But the plugs are wet

Re: No Start After Head Gasket Replacement
Could it be as simple as just adding more fuel? I thought about doing the oil in the cylinders trick but my weakest cylinder has 115 psi. And I didn't think that was bad

Re: No Start After Head Gasket Replacement
I also do know for a fact there's only 1 gallon of gas in it. But when I unhook the fuel line from the fuel rail and turn it over gas pours out. So I'm sure it's getting gas. I also checked for spark and saw the plug sparking. Any help is appreciated. I need to get this car ruining again for my wife...

Re: No Start After Head Gasket Replacement
Also, here are my compression readings. Considering I don't have any cylinders with no compression I believe that the cam timing is fine. Seems like if any valves were open at the wrong times, it would have no compression.

No Start After Head Gasket Replacement
I just had to replace the head gasket on my 2001 v70 xc. I have done head gaskets on other vehicles with no issues. I didn't realize that these cars didn't have cam retainers so needles to say I took of the valve cover and one of the cams popped up so I took it out and set it to the side. When it ca...
