Re: 1994 Volvo 850 Wheel Bearing or Broken Lugs?

I am not sure what caused them to fail to be honest, I have had the car for a year and a half and it has never seen a tire shop in the time I have had it. I have changed the tires with the seasons four times, and had the wheels off a bunch of other times when doing brakes, etc. About the only thing ...

Re: 1994 Volvo 850 Wheel Bearing or Broken Lugs?

Hi all, Lugs were not overtightened, I have always properly torqued them to Volvo spec with a torque wrench. I do have an impact, but its a cordless one, and after the first one I tried with the impact came out broken off I switched to a 1/2 ratchet and socket, and two more came out broken off. They...

1994 Volvo 850 Wheel Bearing or Broken Lugs?

Hi all, I have been having a terrible grinding noise happen on my 850 above 50 km/h, and it has all the signs of being a possible wheel bearing issue on the front passengers side. But when I went to change to my snow tires today, I discovered I have three broken lugs out of five on the side I suspec...

1994 850 Manual Trans Noises

Hi all, My 850 has been making strange noises and I am concerned my throwout bearing or clutch is going. It seems to make a metallic "click" noise when it goes into gear, and there is a strange faint squeaking noise that occurs mostly in 4th gear but seems to come from the passenger side. ...

Re: should I buy a 98 xc70?

Sorry, but as a P80 AWD fan, I'm going to rebut again here. On ice and snow, I've been very pleased with the AWD. In the summertime, it's also been of noticeable benefit. This car has NO torque steer and just hugs the road. It's all mechanical and has no computers, sensors or actuators to get broke...

Re: should I buy a 98 xc70?

I used to own a 98 XC 70, few things I can say about it. Parts are an absolute pain to find depending on where you live. The AWD system is not really worth the hassle, its a lot of potential maintenance for mediocre performance. If the shocks have not been replaced your in for fun there, the rear ni...

Re: 1993 850 Electrical issues

Check for a short or loose connection at the starter terminal where the B+ wire from the alternator meets the starter solenoid. I was having an intermittent stalling and dead battery problem myself and that's what it turned out to be. Took me a while to track that down after driving myself nuts test...

Re: DIY T-45 Stubby Bit Socket for Timing Belt Tensioner.

I have tried the exact way your describing on two different cars, never had it work for me. Its probably just my set of keys though (they are cheap mastercraft ones that probably aren't shaped quite right).

Re: DIY T-45 Stubby Bit Socket for Timing Belt Tensioner.

I have never had much luck with the cheap L-shaped torx keys, they seem to always slip and/or strip out the bolt. My frustration with my set is actually what motivated me to come up with this alternative.

DIY T-45 Stubby Bit Socket for Timing Belt Tensioner

Mod note - applies to -1998 models, I believe ME7 cars use an M10 Hex tensioner bolt Hi all, I have never really seen a write up on how to make one of these, so I thought I would do one. Yes, you can just go buy a lisle brake torx set that has one, but I have never been able to find one of those set...
