Best is to ask someone to do this (reverse) while you stand outside listening to the noise.
Very often the noise one hears in the cabin is different when one is outside.
Hmm, yes probably a good idea too, try to nail down the exact source of the noise.
Thanks.
I would check the brake caliper slider pins.
... the center retainer bolt that holds the drive shaft in the wheel hub.
and the drum brake shoes, they can lose the shoe liners.
More likely to be brakes.

Hi, I have an XC70 2006 with about 100k miles on it. It's in pretty good shape. I've noticed recently that I often hear a "bump" when I reverse out of my garage in the morning...sounds like it's coming from the rear drivers side. Almost like I ran over something...It usually occurs after I...
Hi, I own an XC 70 for family driving, but I am in the market to buy a (used) replacement for my VW GTI to have a smaller car. Fataqui,

Thanks for any help!
Alan.
OK, ended up taking it in to a mechanic and he replaced MAF and everything seems to be good now (also replaced fuel filter but he didn't think it was causing the problem). I was surprised because I thought the car should run / start with the MAF disconnected (which I tried)? Anyway, seems to be good...
My bolt holding on the fuel filter was rusted on solid...no way it would come off, so I'm off to the mechanic since I can't replace it myself if I can't get the bolt off unfortunately!!
Well, I unplugged the MAF and the car did the same thing..started then died about 10 -15 secs later. I opened the air box and sprayed some MAF sensor cleaner in to the pipe with the MAF sensor, and I used an electrical contact cleaner on the connector. I started the car, and it started up, and conti...
