Re: 98 S70 trouble removing the control arms...

If not just undo the bolts all the way, the control arm will swing free and you should be able to get the ball ...

I have a '98 XC70. I drive 160 mile round trip to work every day and I have used regular and premium gas (87 and 93 octane). I get the best mileage with premium by about 50 miles. If I fill up with regular I can get about 480 miles on 17 gallons. If I fill up with premuim I get about 530 miles on 17...

Hi; Okay here is the scoop. I rechecked the cam timing, they were just a hair off. (Retarded). I reset them to the correct position and locked them down. I replaced the tensioner, with one that is stamped with Volvo. Set it using the instructions from Volvo, turned the engine over by hand a few time...

I really appreciate your input on this, you have been very helpful. I have rechecked it again. I took the tensioner back off and checked it, I really can't see anything wrong with it. I put it back on and set it up according to the instructions, It is correct when it is running and the engine does r...

Okay. I checked the tensioner today. This morning when the temp was at 34 degrees the needle was in the middle of the window, I started the engine and it stayed in the middle. I drove the 80 miles to work and rechecked it when I got there. The needle was just to the right of the window. I shut the e...

Now let me explain the pictures. #5 is when I started the vehicle, cold about 50 degrees and the engine is running in the picture. #4 is after a 20 mile drive to Home Depot and back. The engine is idling in the picture. #3 and 2 is when I shut the engine off. The needle always goes all the way to th...

Timing belt tension '98 XC70 B5245T Engine
Here are a few pictures of what is going on. I seemed to have loaded them in the wrong order. The last picture is when I start the vehicle cold, the second to last is when I shut the engine off after a 20 mile drive and this is when the belt gets slack where my finger is pointing in the last picture...
