1996 850 T5 172,000 miles Hot soak no start
Hello, I'm going nuts trying to solve this crazy issue. When cold... starts and runs perfectly. After a 10 mile drive, I stop for 20 minutes, the car turns over but there is no spark at the coil grounded to the engine block. I keep getting code P0120. I swapped the TPS, checked wiring and the proble...

96 Volvo 850T5 turbo actuator question?
Hello, I am trying to find out why my Turbo gauge is no longer going into the white zone during acceleration.( It stays in the middle) At first I thought it was because I screwed up the turbo gauge when I was changing the odometer gear years ago. Luckily Robert Spinner was making his rounds around t...

Re: 1996 Volvo 850 T5 Knock sensor ???
Update. Surely enough, it was the corroded connectors for the knock sensors. CEL is gone. Also, while I had the manifold off, I cleaned up all the other connecters... including starter wires.Since the PCV was changed 7 years ago, I changed that also and will probably never have to worry about that a...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
After years of rodents making a hotel out of the OEM front hood insulation on my 96 850T5, I found an all fiberglass hood mat replacement. It's almost the same thickness as the original. I just put the old one over as a template and now the rodents can't stand the fiberglass!! I got it at Detroit Mu...

Re: 1996 Volvo 850 T5 Knock sensor ???
... replace with the new improved Knock sensor without the connectors at the sensor. I now find out that I have to splice it into the wiring harness. IPD has no instructions, and all I can find is that some people have connected it with a kit from Volvo. Does anyone know where I can find instructio...

Re: 1996 Volvo 850 T5 Knock sensor ???
Loosen the mounting bolts on the starter one by one, remove, clean threads shiny with a Dremel, lubricate, reinstall, torque to specs. Remove the back mount on the starter, to right side of car, if you have one. Volvo discarded it later on as unnecessary. Torque spec for starter bolts is........40N...

1996 Volvo 850 T5 Knock sensor ???
Hello, I have a new issue. As the car turns a quarter century it seems like I will be going over the entire car part by part!! :) Around 6 months ago I got a code P0326 for Knock sensor, I cleared it and it just came back again. I pulled the manifold thinking that I will replace with the new improve...

Re: 96 850T5 Hard restart after engine is hot in hot weather.
Yeah, it's a universal part, so it didn't show that it fit these. I remember one side being a hair smaller in diameter, but that's nothing a small spring type hose clamp or zip tie can't fix! Here is an update. I did end up getting a check/purge valve kit from IPD specific for the 850. The one I go...

Re: Knock Sensor Harness, 1994 Turbo 850
I did a hard reset and the light came back on after 15 minutes of driving. So now I will buy a new sensor assembly. Did you ever figure out your problem? I just pulled the manifold off and see the connectors are all green inside. Cleaned it up with CRC electronic cleaner. I also bought the knock se...
