Door Handle Does Nothing

Hi,

The inside door handle on the passenger side does not do anything when pulled. No noise and the door does not open.

How hard is it to fix the linkage on these things, or could it be worse? v70 1998

Thanks.

Locking Gas Cap, Automatic Locking Action

Hello there, i was wondering if they make a locking gas cap that locks without needing the key, but needs the key only to open. This would mean after you get gas you just put the cap back on and turn and it locks without needing the key. Next time you go to the gas station, you have to use the key t...

Great info again, I'll pass the info along. Neil. Hi again, I am happy you found it useful. Just one more small note about the clamp meter. The Mastech MS2108 clamp meter is pretty good for the price. It has true RMS and surge readings. The surge reading helps if you need to catch a quick surge of ...

Hi again, I guess you could check using the ground lead, as long as there is nothing else connected to the negative terminal once the battery is "disconnected" and the meter inserted. Hello again,

I found three out of four end clips now. Here is a pic.
The straight part goes though the end of the gas spring and that seems to help hold it onto the ball.
The penny is a US penny, for size comparison.

Yes Mr Al...on 98 xc70 ... I used a push broom to hold rear hatch open and do one side at a time. I used a big flat blade screw driver to "pop off" shock and then pop off the other end at roof point. Clips should be internal on those. I place the shock on roof pin and pull...real hard ...and then p...

Hello,

Are you guys saying that ethanol hurts gaskets and hoses or helps gaskets and hoses?
If it is good, no problem, but if it is bad, how bad is it?

Also, apparently we loose gas mileage? How much do we loose?

Best Grade of Gasoline

Hello there,

What do you think is the best grade of gas, the low priced, medium priced, or highest priced at the pump?
I ask because someone said that the high octane gave them better gas mileage.
Question is, is it worth it to buy the higher octane, like 93 ?

Re: P80 supplementary air system SAS Delete Diode part 1N4003

Hi, The diodes are 1N4001 through 1N4007 as noted. They will probably all work the same because they are all almost the same except for the voltage that they will block which is higher for the higher numbers. I doubt you would need the 200v version as the 1N4001 50v version would work fine at 12v re...

Re: Voltage drop to alternator '98 V70

Hi,

Ok thanks guys.

I guess we should use something non metal to get it off then because if it shorts to ground that could be a problem.
I have screwdrivers but they are all metal, so i'll have to see what i can find to pry it off.

Re: Voltage drop to alternator '98 V70

You have to unclup that plastic cover to see the B+ terminal, red arrow The smaller push on connector triggers the alternator light or service required message in later cars Hi Steve, Thanks, this is starting to make some ...

Re: Voltage drop to alternator '98 V70

Hello there, If someone can post a pic of what terminal on the alternator to measure for the voltage drop, i'll check mine too and we can compare notes. Where is the terminal to measure on the alternator? Same basic car, 1998 v70 non turbo, automatic trans [i think the positive terminal is the one t...

Re: 2000 V70XC fuel filler door Topic is solved

Hi, I had the problem too a couple weeks ago so i started looking into this too. Mine was a v70 1998. What else i thought of was an idea i got from Robert's very nice video. That is, just remove the 'hook' thing that goes into the body of the car when the door is shut and latches. Once that is remov...

Gas Door Gets Stuck

Hi there, I had replied to the other thread recently and it reminded me that my gas door got stuck about a week or two ago and i had to bang it to get it open. I had since then sprayed it with some lube, but then i was wondering how to open it if it ever happens again. I found a nice video by Robert...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky!!)

Hi, Not today per say but the other day i sprayed my gas door hinge and associated latch. It was stuck one day when i went to get gas so i figured i better do it. Maybe someone here knows how to open the gas door when it gets stuck. While at that, i did the hood hinges and latches because they can b...

Re: P2/P80 Visual Audible Tactile Inspection of vacuum hoses VATHI

Hi again, Sounds good. Just one more quick question... Do you think there will be any place in the system where we can not get to in order to see any possible 'bubbles' ? in other words, when we do the smoke test, where do we look for the leaks which i guess would show smoke? What i am wondering now...
