Sounds like this is loose... I'd make sure this piece is tightened down enough. Pretty easy to get a wrench on it. I had a similar sound 6 years ago.

Best to do that A/C work before winter as you may need functioning A/C to clear the windows in damp cold weather.
Sigh... you're right. E. I'm pricing parts on Rockauto right now: Approx $150 for Four Seasons Evaporator and Drier and an APDI/PRO Condenser...

Well, at least your son is learning how to keep cool and level-headed during a date! :P

Good luck, Rollo! Keep us posted on how it turns out.

I'm lucky I'll never run into this problem! I drive a stick shift! :)

Evap is the only big one, cheap part but lots of labour to get to it. Worse if/when you have to repair the dash mounts. Once you do the Evap, everything else is bolt on/ off and you don’t lose the car use during the work, unless it’s the compressor (needed for SERP belt) Well, abscate, you're forge...

Re: Car alarm randomly going off on hot days

Ben, have you been able to figure this out? What a Gremlin... I imagine it's a ground wire somewhere or a battery issue. The heat gives me pause though... why (or how!) would heat play a role here...

Re: Clunk from automatic transmission when going R

really easy... The weight of the engine is supported by the upper left and upper right mounts. The bottom mounts are only bolts that allow the engine to move forward and backward.

Really straightforward!! (and easy!)

Those would be coming from the middle... If you get the car on ramps you can see if you have any movement. At this age, it's good to sw...
