Thanks for the prompt response. I will bite the bullet and order the accumulator also. May or may not do the job myself but depends on my mechanic's quote. I have a vacuum pump, do I have to take the system to a certain value after changing the accumulator and ready to add the "Freon"?

Off thread a little. My daughters 1998 lost freon due to hole in high pressure hose. Do I have to replace anything other than the hose and refill?

After battery charge, daughter drives with lights, radio, A/C on. After ~ 2-3 days, will again be hard to start with low battery voltage.

Daughters car(138000 mi.) drains the battery. Did the alternator test in Chilton manual with OK reading of 0.5 volts above battery voltage with no load on system at 1500 rpm. Only had 0.3 volts above battery voltage with AC & lights on at 2000 rpm. Does this mean that the alternator needs ...

Solved the mystery without breaking anything. Used inertial puller with a 90 deg. attachment on the back side of pulley. Took two taps. The project progresses. Will report back when engine starts with no abnormal results.
