Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky)

I cleared the P0600 code on my ‘00 V70 for the hour-plus drive to Queens, and it was fine. Then cleared it again for the return trip, and it didn’t reappear while driving. I’ve ordered the ECU removal tool in the hope that cleaning it might solve the issue. In the meantime, Decided to buy my cousin’...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky)

Well I'm certainly equipped for a sub-$500 P80 rally! One of my two sub-$500 candidates was towed away a couple of weeks ago. I'm hoping to register the other (a T5) in the next week. :) I also checked the suspension of my S70 and I noticed that my front struts are on their last days. Anyone with s...

Moving Day! Helping my son move to a new apartment. A small couch in the back of Betty. I love wagons.
Nice! I literally just said to my significant other today, "That thing is practically a moving van."

We managed to fit a full-size sleeper sofa in our V70. :)

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky)

God, there were some awful cars in the 1970s, from everywhere. My college roommate went through a Gremlin, Pacer, Vega, and a Yugo. Engineering and building a time it’s finest. You could hear them rust, Brilliant. I’m old enough to remember when the Ford Pinto was a rental fleet vehicle. Once my pa...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky)

Sounds like it may need to be re-tapped. That's why I never let anyone touch my car unless I give them specific instructions and I get to watch! And that's only for alignments and tire mounting... I refuse to let anyone do anything else. I like this kind of Volvo oversight! And, wow, what a Durango...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky)

Today, I stared at the oil spot left by the '98 V70 in my driveway. It's back. One of the few times I took it to an oil-change shop, years ago, they must've used an impact wrench to replace the drain plug. Even the repair shop that tried to get it off took a while to back it out again. When it final...

Re: 2000 V70 n/a with a P0600 code

Thanks! It looks like I'll be getting an ECM removal tool veerrrry soon.

Will I get another warning besides the CEL as to when it finally quits, or will it just leave me stranded? The car is actually running great otherwise.

Re: 99 s70 died on highway : multiple codes

This sounds similar to what happened on a cross-country trip in my '97 VW Golf: First the dash lights went out, then the A/C, then it died right in front of my friend's house. The next morning it started right up, and died again after a couple of miles. AAA towed it to the dealer, where they found t...

Re: car won't start and run

Was it running before you changed the spark plug wires and distributor rotor?

If so, I might re-check the order of the wires and ensure good connections at the distributor.

Re: Steering question/concern

Are the power-steering lines OK, with no kinks or dents?

My T5's PS pump is bad, and it makes a sad groaning noise when I turn, but I've still got power there.
