Re: Pressure in oil pan - pushes dipstick out

I just had a problem where I had so much pressure in the engine just by cranking it for a couple seconds, it will actually blow up with white smoke everywhere, dipstick shot out and oil everywhere bursting out of the oil fill cap. The dipstick hole and oil filler hole literally blew smoke like a ste...

Re: Engine blowing up, sort of.

^Thats what I first thought, but the more I thought about it, the tiny plastic tube couldnt have been sufficient with the amount of blow by gas that was blowing out from the bottom of the block(dipstick) and the top of the cam cover(fill hole). I guess it takes less effort for the intake vacuum to s...

Re: Engine blowing up, sort of.

The car starts up in a jiffy! Has a weird blip between stop and the first gear change, but everything else seems the same, maybe better with the cleared out pcv and EGR. @erikv11 It's the DIY mod where you make the pcv return hose alot larger with a heater hose. This is a must do mod. https://www.ma...

Re: Engine blowing up, sort of.

So... the car lives to see another day... ...well, I'll have to see if it starts up again later. First off, I couldn't accept the fact that all the cylinders where blown at once. Never seen that happen and I had a part of me thinking maybe I did the test wrong or the compression kit was broken, as i...

Re: Engine blowing up, sort of.

Yes the engine spins pretty freely with plugs in and especially with the plugs out, no odd noise. Checked timing and it lines up perfectly fine. I'm thinking the rings are cracked or something , as I'm getting a lot more blowby gas from the lower pcv hole and dipstick than the top cam cover hole. Od...

Re: Engine blowing up, sort of.

Did my first compression test, I think I did it right, and here are the result.

1 92
2 92
3 89
4 120
5 87

From google search I'm guessing they are way too low...

I'm not sure if it was this low to begin with befor the stall

Re: 94 Volvo 850 Turbo 2.3 with crankcase pressure and oil leak

Any update on this? I got a similar problem on my base 1995 850 non turbo. I replaced the entire PCV system, a new oil trap, all new hoses and lines, new flame trap, cleaned out all the holes completely but the crankcase still holds a great amount of pressure that it explodes after about 30 seconds ...

Re: Engine blowing up, sort of.

So I checked the Sparks and they are all igniting dull orange, probably due to low battery. I decided to crank the car for a while and just see what happens and it started! for a couple of seconds and stopped, very excited I tuned the engine again and it goes POOM!! White smoke everywhere again, oil...
