Other automakers will be running massive sales, perhaps selling at or near cost hoping to get sales going, factories back up, and people back on payroll. I wouldn't be surprised if federal and state governments roll out incentives (temporarily suspend or lower sales taxes on major purchases such as ...

Choice of tire can affect this- I also though there way too much road feedback through the steering wheel on my S60. Enough that it could drive me bonkers on a longer drive. They've been starting to crack down on LED/HID conversions around me where the the resulting light is too intense/blinding to oncoming traffic. If that's idling in park your throttle plate is too far open. On the 2.5T engine it should be open around 6-8% @hot idle in park. '05 uses the Bosch style throttle bodies. Probably another case of the internal gear mechanism is worn out/shot.

You can also open the cover of these 2003-up throttle bodies. It's secured with 4 metal clips, just push them off, and you have access inside. Re: Decrease your chances of CEM or DIM failure with a FAN

Pushes air up into the dash. Heated air rises so in theory it should be more effective to force cool air in from the bottom rather than try to reverse the natural flow of convection. And the coolest pool of air to draw from would be down at the floor, hence air flow through the fan is 'up'.

Consider replacing that bolt with a torx head bolt. It might make it easier on the next person that has to loosen it. Just replaced mine @125k miles. Big difference in noise/vibration in forward gear at idle and while rolling. Only mounts I haven't replaced are the two lower bell shaped hydraulic ones. They still appear practically new and appear to last far longer than the other three mounts/torque struts.

I've found that dialing in the wheel alignment affects both city and highway mileage, but city more. There's a clear silicone pad that sits on the face of the sensor between it and the glass. The pad likes to stick to the original windscreen. Pretty much all the P1/P2s have low drag coefficients for their size class/body style. The XC90's come in around 0.35 cd which blows most other large SUVs out of the water. I haven't seen one of the new '19 S60s in person yet. I love my '06. The exterior look of the P3s didn't do much for me but those ...

The dealer may not cooperate with the idea of 'reworking' your existing CEM. The option they're likely to propose would be to install a factory new CEM at somewhere around $1000 part + labor + programming. These relays don't plug in the side of the CEM like older P2 Volvos 2004 and earlier. From 2005+ they're internal soldered to the circuit board. If it gets lean enough it will stall. I suspect you are having the same problem I did 3 years ago-- The TB gets 'sticky' at multiples of 6-7% which corresponds to the spacing/size of the teeth on the internal gears inside the TB. They wear the most in the first few teeth/part throttle range under 30...

Top video, idling hot... Looks like the throttle plate is sitting at 12% open on a hot engine at idle. Which would be very lean. Throttle plate should be 5-8% tops after it settles down after the rev at start. Rising RPM is the fuel trims richening the mix I suspect. If the throttle plate were sitti...

If your chassis # (last six digits of VIN) is 254140 or under, for ~$25 you can try a different starter out of a pick and pull and give starter motor interference theory a whirl. If under that chassis# you can pull a starter out of virtually any Volvo L5 engine from 2007 going back to the mid 1990s....

The area on the end of the crankshaft sensor that actually senses the holes on the flex plate is only a few milimeters wide, centered on the end of the sensor. Missing pintle caps can result in residue build up on the injector tip, poor fuel spray, lean mixtures, poor driveability and high emissions. If it ran good immediately after servicing the injectors and then degraded over time that's probably it.

Re: 2006 Volvo S60 2.5 AWD, Endless search of problem

Leaky injector causes a different set of problems. You'll get the codes for fuel trim and sometimes misfire codes and/or long crank/hard starting because the engine has to clear a flood before it can start. But usually that doesn't set P0101 (MAF). Leaky injector by itself doesn't affect the amount ...

With everything you've already done if P0101 (MAF) and P0170 (Fuel trim) still persists I'd look at the throttle body. When the Bosch type throttle bodies start to fail they have problems controlling the throttle plate in the range between idle and part throttle. The engine computer interprets this ...

It's still going to spark to ground igniting the fuel/air mix, so you may not get a large enough misfire count to trip a DTC/CEL. Merely the effective gap isn't correct. What you end up with would be more along the lines of improper heat range and detonation on the affected cylinders.

They can sit for days/weeks/months virtually untouched - which is why I wasn't in any hurry to get up ther...

Re: Kallekula's $160 V70 2001 Topic is solved

I'm off to the local LKQ tomorrow, they had an '05 S60 with slide-off collision damage come in a couple days ago with the wood steering wheel I want. We'll see how much stuff I come back with.

Re: AM radio does not work.

When switching to AM, if you turn the volume up and hear static, it's an antenna grounding issue, search the forum for the 'brass strip fix'.
If you hear dead silence with the volume up all the way to MAX, it's an internal radio issue with no known DIY fix.

Re: Alignment for my neutered 2001 V70 XC Topic is solved

I looked up the alignment spec for the 2001 V70xc, .3 deg/~.25in total toe-in is definitely enough to drag down highway econ noticeably. In my experience anything approaching 0.1 in or more will start to make a measurable difference. Between the front (toe-out .3 deg) and the rear (toe-in .3 deg) th...

Re: Alignment for my neutered 2001 V70 XC Topic is solved

Do I use the alignment/toe specs for the FWD V70, or stick with the specs for the AWD V70 XC? Without the rear wheel providing propulsion, is the increased toe spec still needed? Any other alignment issues to be aware of? I know what you're talking about. Driven wheels get pressed toe-out as rubber...

Re: 2004 XC70 Broken front macpherson strut spring after being towed home.

This is more for future people who may come across this conversation.. The problem with most 'heavy duty' springs, which are usually aftermarket, is that generally they're designed to facilitate a heavier cargo load. Which can be confused with the concept of longevity. They will make the car sit a l...

Re: Made in China?

We'll get a good look at the SC made cars soon enough. I noticed the curb weight for the recently unveiled SPA S60s is nearly the same as the P2s, which points to them being solidly built cars. Contrast that with my friend's Civic 4 door sedan, being roughly the same size as my S60 is something like...

Re: 2004 XC70 Broken front macpherson strut spring after being towed home.

Strapping to the control arms is still no different than driving up a steep incline as far as the stresses on the spring are concerned. It's the same forces whether applied via a strap around the control arm or by engine power at the wheel. I've seen two coil springs break over the years on differen...

Re: 2004 XC70 Broken front macpherson strut spring after being towed home.

I don't quite understand how the lateral force presented to the coil spring by a tow truck would be different than the same stresses that you would see normally through stomping on the gas or braking hard. The tow truck grabs onto the wheel, not the spring. I'm thinking that would have broke soon wi...

Re: Windscreen Glass, Pilkington or PPG/PGW? Topic is solved

Rain sensor works fine with the Fuyao glass. The glass installers reused the original silicone pad and made a mess of it: didn't clean it, used some sort of oil to compensate for it not lining up properly because it came unbonded from the sensor body one side but was still attached on the other, but...

Re: Intermittent rich issue

Also check you throttle position sensor and the harness connections to it. If the sensor falsely indicates that you've stepped on the accelerator pedal, the ECU dumps gas into the mix. When the throttle plate hasn't opened by the corresponding amount, there's not enough oxygen/air to burn the extra ...

Then concurrent runs of registry cleaner which catches all sorts of registry entries left behind by the uninstall of the mentioned ...

Yeah I tried reinstalling VIDA to no avail. The laptop in question (Samsung NPQ680Z5E) is a newer 'thin an light type' designed to compete with Macbooks but running MSW. A bit of a pita to switch out the internal drive and no optical drive bay.

Hey RickHaleParker, On the windows 10 repack Vida won't turn green again. Worked fine ~30 days ago. Java never loads - it doesn't show up in task man, port 80 unused. Vida monitor loads but I noticed it sits with ~20% cpu use. Set core affinity to only run on one core, monitor pegs that virtual core...
